whirring noise

After driving 400 miles yesterday this morning when i started up i had a whirring noise which increased will engine revs - i think its too slow for turbo, maybe altenator or other ancil
It seemed to get better ie quieter after a sort drive 2day but is still there in background
I have last 250 mile to go tomorrow to get to the alps not sure now how big a problem i may have

any one with any ideas

Air Con Pulley Bearing. Mine was slowly getting worse over time, lasted for a few months befpre I finally got round to them changing it (under wty at the time).

You can just change the pully and bearing on those now btw Thumbs Up

Oh really? Mine's on the way out and have been dreading doing it because I understood it was the whole compressor assembly that had to be replaced?!

Just bearings now?? Have a size (or a kit?)

Bodsy,

I think mine is on the way out too - slight whine from that area on part throttle, which stops when you turn the air conditioning off!

So any idea on the parts cost and how long does it take dealer/diy?
