Which window tints?
Getting tints fitted and was going for 'limo' black ones (car is black with anthracite wheels, see gallery pic) but was advised this makes it "look like a van" as they are so 'reflective' look like panels. Was advised to go 20% tint instead.
Any views?
I do want the 'moody' black look and the D3 rear light units are being smoke tinted as well (except the indicator strip as that is framed by the lamp guards and I think will look better, bit retro 80's I know......), decided not to fit D4 units. Not got any chrome or bright exterior trim other than the aluminium edge to the side steps
It's a matter of personal taste I know, but IMO with the limo rear windows and std driver/pass it does look like a van, much better to go lighter and still look like a seven seat vehicle.

So if you had factory fitted tints as OE what level equivalent to aftermarket fit are they as from outside they look like limo tints but from inside they don't appear that dark from ones I had on company cars previously?
Is aftermarket limo tints darker that these?

I think the darker tints suit the lighter colours, Silver - Stornoway - and White
The 20% one is still fairly dark, and looks even more so on a dark car, i have a Tonga D3 and cant make up my mind if i should go 35% as its a fairly dark car or put the 20% on there.
I think the 20% is pretty near to factory fitted.
What a nightmare

Choice is currently between 'limo' black or 15%, hopefully will have a better idea when I'm there
IIRC land rover standard tinted windows block 38% light and Legal limit is 40% block. so 62% transmitted light. I'm not an expert, just happen to have run a group buy etc"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

which window tints
Evening guys,
Just picked up my 1st disco 3 last week and man I love it. Having had two freelanders & a l32 range it is by far the best.
Any way I am also wanting the tints as my last lander had it and its great for the kids etc.
Now is there much difference in quality as I have had 2 estimate.
The 1st was a small local firm for £200 or pentagon quoted £325
Big differnce ah

I'm going to Midland Tints in Hinkley (they have a few places around the country) and a bit further down here there is a thread called "window tinting again" or similar that has their contact details. Recommended by other guys on here and I'm having them done tomorrow on mine so will post a pic or two. Less than £200 for D3 members also.......

I am wondering whether to put medium tint between B and C pillar, and limo tint behind the C pillars - keeps cooler and makes harder to see what is in boot. Any views? (Excuse the pun).d4 HSE
