which smart phone with windows mobile software? |
|
I am looking for a smart phone with windows mobile software that also communicates with the disco.
In the list of compatible phones I can only find some machines that seems to be completely outdated...
Anybody using such a phone with the disco?
Thanks in advance for advice.

do you mean a 'full' connection or just a bluetooth one?
I have a HTC QTEK (actually a T-Mobile one, but it's almost the same)
LR Bluetooth works OK with it but that's all - no address book just call answering.

Just a bluetooth connection will do. That's all what I am used to after throwing out the cradle. The phone book anyway did show only the default number. And the car's keyboard and controls weren't very handy either.
I used to dial the number through the phone where the car takes over the audio. And I intend to program at last numbers in the voice command system.
Does all of that works on your smart phone? Which type is it?
Thanks

See the other thread, but my HTC TyTn works okay and I've been using it every day in the D3 for about six months before I sold the car.
Also, the best thing to get is a Brodit phone holder. They do two brackets that fit the D3. See my gallery here for pics. Matt

I use a Palm Treo. This works ok in the car. However, when I leave the car the phone doesn't always go back to normal use. Still 'thinks' it's in the car?
After a reset it's ok again.
regards,
Thomas

Are you after a Smartphone i.e. a traditional phone with additional functionality such as Nokia's n73 or a PocketPC Phone such as HTC's Artemis? Darren Griffin

Then when you have one you can have a real clock for your D3. 8)

I have a QTEK 9000, which does NOT connect to the LR at all. Tried different software, (even windows mobile 6) but it does not connect. By the way, I have a MY 07, so maybe the Bluetooth of MY08 is better. TDV6 HSE Stornaway Grey, black interior

This is the phone I have (page takes a while to load)
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/article479.html
It works on bluetooth all the time every time for me as soon as I chuck it in the car.
I just use the phone's voice system to dial out as soon as it dials the LR bluetooth takes over so I haven't tried the LR voice system yet
I've also got TomTom 6 on it (with the speed camera databases) which is VERY useful to have

TazDaz, that is made my HTC and called a TyTn when with their badge on it - I have one. Great PDA, but I miss having a real phone key pad. My previous Sony Ericsson P910i was a better allrounder. Matt

I have an O2 Orbit - HTC 3300 to the rest of the world. Great device. Recommend it completely. However I'm B ggered if I can get it to speak to the car - recognise it , yes - communicate with it, no. So I've put a T610 in the car and use that. However the O2 speaks to every other car kit we have, and every other bluetooth device we have. And the SatNav is great (and free as I bought it on line!)

In NZ I have a thing called an HTC Apache (Harrier Telephone Company). I think it may go by other names in other parts. It works fine with D3 bluetooth although the Bluetooth in the phone is only 1.6 and the LR is 2 or thereabouts. Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

Have to disagree - I had a 910i prior to changing to HTC's QTEK 9100 and I find it a much better and user friendly piece of kit

For PDA functions, the HTC Windows smart phones are far superior and great to use. However, most users would use the phone functions more often and I find that the lack of a 'real' phone keypad a real pain - especially when driving. The touchscreen phone pad is too slow, not accurate enough and the virtual keys are too small. The P910i was great at calling up the last numbers and scrolling through them.
My next phone will be something like this

So you have a real keypad for faster phone functions, then the slide out keyboard for PDA functions. Best of both worlds then. Matt
