Which Jack? Advice Please!

I'm planning to buy a second set of wheels with offroad tyres for weekend country-worrying.

I don't fancy using the stock LR scissor jack, so want to buy a decent jack. I imagine it would be a trolley jack, but would consider other options.

1. Can anyone recommend a good jack?, and who sells it
and
2. I notice the stock LR jack fits into lugs in the chassis. Do other jacks need to be able to do this, or is it purely to counteract the inherent instability of the scissor jack?

All the best

Rob,
see this thread for a link to the bottle jack I have

It doesn't have the adaptor (yet Embarassed ) but seems pretty stable - even when jacking a 'side at a time' Shocked

Was looking at this one, the lifting height is slightly less than TFC's but what do you reckon?

ground to chassis distance in off road height is approx 360cm.

ground to chassis distance needed to get a wheel off the ground is approx 460cm so that jack would need to placed on a small block.

Also, lifting range needed is a bit more than 100cm. Watch out for part of the lifting range of that jack being provided by the head screwing out.

Irf

Hope it was only your early morning typing, or we'll all want a Disco like yours! Off road clearance of 360cm would be awesome!

Cheers!

How high does the jack need to go to get an air-sprung D3 wheel off the ground?

It would be OK if everyone here drove on the same side of the road!
