I've been shouting the bonnet on the cable for years and it hasn't ever damaged the cable. There's enough 'give' in the rubber seals to not affect the cable. D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

I've extended the cable so that I don't have to even open the bonnet to connect the charger.

That's excellent. So you used the ring fittings to connect permanently to the positive and earthing point and leave the CTEK connection laying on the scuttle under the bonnet?
Did you crimp/solder that extension yourself?

Yes, it's left permanently connected. To make the extension, I just cut the Comfort Connector wire in the middle and then soldered and heat shrink and wrap the whole lot in insulating tape. D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT
