Resurrecting an oldish thread here but I noticed a loose OSF wheel nut. I removed it, checked for damage and debris and torqued it back to 140Nm but it's still ever so slightly loose. Won't undo with hand and requires a hearty crank to undo it with the wrench, so guess it just needs replacing.

Are these boys from AF a good replacement to the OEMs:

Is it the Stainless Steel cap that’s loose or the full wheel nut?

Whenever I get the car back from the garage I always remove and refit the wheel nuts as at the garage they are generally put on with an air gun and not torqued correctly.

Correct torque setting is 140Nm as previously said.

Also ditch the locking wheel nuts as these WILL fail.
Check remaining wheel nuts as I think at one time I needed 3 different socket sizes Confused

....and while your at it, replace the toy LR wheel brace with a more substantial unit / breaker bar.

.......and go the whole hog and bin the scissor jack

I have myself a Halfords Advanced torque wrench (60-300Nm) and am using that. Don't think the crappy LR one has ever seen the light of day tbh!

Has to be said, the nut that is loose is shinier than the rest!

surely its just the cover cap that is loose and not the 'real' nut underneath???

Should have sent Penfold to AF, Batfink. Their full set is £44 too and they give 5% discount to forum members.

Just ordered mine off them, and a full service kit for the D4 too.

Thumbs Up

Don't think I've ever tourqued wheel nuts up. Never had a problem.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I think the AF ones are still the capped ones and after spending 3 hours getting one wheel set off I was none too happy. These ones are solid one piece ones with no caps.
