Wheel choices
Hey folks,
just bought a D3 that came with what I think are Range Rover 22” wheels on. I needs a couple of new tyres and the 22” wheels are not to my taste so looking at other options.
What’s the “best” OE wheel to go for? I am planning to put some ATs on it and maybe try to go a little bigger if I can so puzzling over 17” vs 18” vs 19”
Thanks
J

Welcome.
Personally, I think 19" is the best size. Will fit over V8 brake conversion, has enough sidewall to give a good ride, and has the best looking wheel choice!

Got 5 of these 19", could do with a little painting, but not damaged, £150 the 5.

My choice would be 18”. You can upgrade to V8 brake discs, if it hasn’t already got them, 17”s won’t fit over the larger discs but 18”s will. Second choice is 19”s, but the ride on and off road is better with 18”s and it’s virtually impossible to kerb them.
I also think smaller rims and deeper side walls look so much better on such a capable off road vehicle. That’s entirely a personal preference, some people prefer the builder in ballet shoes look of ultra low profile tyres on their Land Rover.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Like others have said - if (when) you do the V8 brake upgrade 18” is the minimum that’ll fit. There should be plenty of 18” and 19” rims available as used.... it’s more of a buyer’s market.
I have 19” rims and Pirelli Scorpion AT+ tires and am happy even odd-road. I also think, like another poster, that higher sidewall (more air) is better in the terrain but also looks better.
Finally, I guess it kind of depends what you’re going to be doing with your vehicle and where.
I wouldn’t go off-road with 22” pavement princess rims but that’s just me (wouldn’t be caught with such rims either)

I am thinking 18” will likely be best for me.
Keeping an eye on eBay etc for a set locally.
I am desperate to get rid of the 22’s. At least I should be able to get a few pounds for them once I have swapped things over.
Shame I can’t fit the MT’s off my D2 or my 109

I have the same first world problem. I have a 2016 Landmark with 20” rims. I just sold my V8 with 18”s and the ride was so much better.
However, the 20s have new and brilliant ATs fitted so I can’t justify getting rid. But I also need a set of wheels for Winter tyres. Plan is to put the ATs on the new rims (so need to be 20s) and put winters on the LR stock rims.
I’m stuck with 20” for now I suspect and am looking at Fuel Vapors. BUT: if I were you I’d get these: Evo Corse DakarZero.
