What's this connector for then? |
|
Does anybody know what the spare connector on the Logic 7 unit is for? It appears to be an optical-type connector and has a little plastic dust plug inserted.
Like all boys toys, if something can be plugged I would like to try. Clean comments only!!
Cheers

Are you talking about the rear of the unit? If it's optical, it's probably a MOST bus connector... but I'm not looking at any documentation to verify.

I think so. Only came across it whilst cleaning. Just wondered if it's an input or output and therefore what it's for. You are probably right though and I'm just showing my ignorance of what a MOST connector is. I think I'll get the torch out and go exploring the dark depths of the the driver's seat. A good look cant break it?

MOST is a fibre ring, so if its a most connector then it has 2 fibre connections in it, one for in and one for out

Whilst it is not easy to be sure, one possibility is that this is a digital in connector for a DVD multichanger (boot mounted) which is for future release - as is a TV tuner.

DVD? TV Tuner? - Oooh I'm getting all excited now. Maybe there are aftermarket possibilities in the short term? 8)
When my car comes back from the dealer, I'm definitely going to have a proper look.

Guys,
I looked into this quite seriously some time back.
I have the info on what is planned for the future, the pdf came from GTR.
It shows the video tv tuner, digital tuner, dvd changer etc.
I will post it when Martin fixes the upload option.

Remember, (I probably posted this before, at least in another forum)... the system core is "generic" between Range Rover, Range Rover Sport & Disco 3 -- and probably future LRs. Some features never make it to production on a specific vehicle... (or is only in limited markets.) GTR documentation is far from production accurate.
FYI: The "DVD Changer" (part of the integrated rear dual screen RSES) made it to '06 RRS and RR. (North America also a gets a Sirius digital satellite tuner option in RRS and RR.)
