Whats the max USB size the media player can handle?
Hi all,
New to the forum, I tried searching but nothing came up so decided to post. Can anyone advise what is the maximum or what have people used with success regarding the size of USB the disco can take for the media player? is 64 gig the most or can it take 128 or even more?
thanks for you help

As Del says! What I can tell you is that a 128gb stick works fine on a MY13 D4 D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT
D4 MY13 HSE Lux - RLD/IID BT
P38 RR - Sad parting
110 - Even sadder parting
S3 88" - Still going strong after 23 years of ownership

that's good news. I haven't brought my disco yet but it will likely be a 13 plate so 128 gig should work just fine then, looking forward to not having to rip mp3 cds soon

I use a 160Gb iPod - bit pricey but much easier to use than a memory stick as the folder browsing, etc. works better IMO
Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders
MY12 D4 HSE - been and gome

The answer to that one is how much power does it need? I don't know the exact specs, but there's not a lot of power coming out of the USB socket. I've not tried it, but it may work if you can supply power to the HDD via the 12v power socket.D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

I believe the USB spec is 10W at 5V so 2A. Of course the socket may not be able to supply that and older computers had that limitation too which is why older 2.5" portable disks often came with a cable with 2 usb plugs on, one for data and power and one for extra power too. One of these may be ok if the media player can recognise a file system that large.

OK after playing with this for some time with a 16GB stick I could not get working, I read the manual and it says only connect audio devices to the USB ports. Guess that is why I can't get it to read my USB stick.

I had a 500gb seagate portable HDD hooked up to my 59 plate D4 formatted to FAT 32. Worked a treat although I did have everything organized in folders so it was easy to navigate around the music - well I cheated I just copied my itunes library over.
I believe it may have more to do with the format of the stick for HDD rather than the size. I seem to recall it wouldn't read the HDD when it formatted as NTFS.

Try doing a full format on the USB stick not a quick format.
