I thought DVLA was an 03 number so standard rates/inclusive minutes. Confused I have an 0300 number stored in my phone but it looks like you can now only contact them by phone if you are a key worker.

Somehow or other someone in the household managed to call a premium rate number which BT tell us is the DVLA; a search for the number on google revealed a raft of similar numbers.

Dyson's advert saying their vacuum cleaner creates "forces of up to 79000g". That's not a force, it's an acceleration. Grrr.....

..or (approx) 775000 m.s-². A Google™ search suggests a particle of dust has a mass of approx 7.5xE-10 kg, so a force of 0.00058097587 N then.

I'd love to know how they got that number.

I just mentally multiply it by 9.8 something or other. Easypeasy. Thumbs Up

Multiply it by ten, then take off 10% - twice. Of course, if you were using a Dyson cleaner in a different part of the world, the local value of 'g' could differ from that in your home...

"9.8" is the acceleration due to gravity. Hence "it's still an acceleration". Whistle

Its units are m/s^2, which confirms its nature as an acceleration.

F=ma

Force for a given mass is proportional to the acceleration, so it is entirely correct to refer to a “force of XXg”. Wink
