Went by myself to the Inverness Tesco for a shop. I had plenty of time, not in any hurry and in a good mood.

I was looking at the cold meat counter when a guy passed in front of me then turned and said what the Hell are you looking at? I said I was looking at the meat, not anything else. He then pushed me back with both hands. I remonstrated and told him he’d assaulted me and in my opinion he needed psychiatric help to which he told me it was just as well he hadn’t met me in the car park! He then walked off with his Mrs in tow.

I wouldn’t mind but I was in a good mood, no hurry and didn’t even make eye contact with the guy prior to him speaking to me. Is this what supermarket shopping is coming to?

I did report it to the Customer Desk. The Duty Manager was all for calling the Police, but it would have been my word against the two of them. I don’t suppose his Mrs. would have backed me up and any other witnesses melted into the surroundings.

Annoying, but bar scrapping in the aisle, what can you do? Evil or Very Mad

That's the sort of thing that could easily have got you a punch in the face. I reckon you're lucky, to be honest. Whilst I agree with you on both points, these people are as likely to respond with violence when questioned by someone they've already taken a dislike to (even if it's for an imagined slight). Sometimes it's better to turn and walk away, even if you have to say "sorry" (for having done nothing wrong at all).

You probably didn’t go to Twerton, Whiteway, Foxhill and Snowhill, let alone venture out to Peasdown in the 1970’s.

FYI, Lidl on the Lower Bristol road. 👍

Youre probably right, not worth the bother, but someone has to say something at some point rather than curl up in a ball. If the guy then wants to stick one on me, fair enough.

I’m glad you’re okay. Such an experience always shakes and winds you up, at least it does me.

I probably wouldn’t have called him a nutter though. Too many knives about nowadays. 👍
