What’s this on the new EBC pads ??
Just opened the box of new EBC pads to fit to the front of my Disco 4, however they have an odd looking round thing on them ? Anyone know what this is ?

Thanks folks I thought it must have been something like that. However it’s only on 2 out of the 4 pads though. So what do you reckon…,does it go against piston side or opposite side ?? You’d think it would be mentioned in the paperwork in the EBC box….but nothing 🙄
Cheers

My standard pads had these from the factory, so did the Ferrodo (OE) pads I replaced them with. If yours hasn't got it have they been swapped before?

So after a bit of research, it turns out these are supposed to be fitted with the weight mounted in the outer position on each side towards the top of the rotor. Makes no difference at all to actual braking performance but can help reduce resonance and hence noise….as correctly suggested by gstuart & Kilovolt 👍.

hers a copy of my post from April2018.
quote="dunton10"]The silver cylinder thing is a vibration damper and from my research the pad with this on goes on the outside (wheel side) of the disc with the silver bit at the top. Hope this is correct I’m doing my fronts Wednesday and rears Thursday. Hoping for decent weather and that it all goes well. Done them before on my D3 but not on my D4.[/quote]Currently 2015 D4 SE Tech, Corris Grey
