We've bought a D3 ... how best to enjoy it? |
|
We have just bought a D3 to replace a '56 Ford Galaxy (which is a fab car BTW). We bought it for towing and the 7 seats. We are a 2.4 family so family off-roading is probably not on the agenda
So ... we are basically looking for suggestions on how we as a family can fully appreciate the car. She will be going camping and sailing this year but we would be interested in hearing on how, as a family, we can enjoy all of what she can offer.
Our first mod will be some side steps to help the little ones in and out and eBay will solve that
Also can anyone recommend a brand/make of child seat that sits well in the D3 on leather as the ones we have seem to slip about a bit (children are 5 & 2).
Cheers!

We have 6 year old and 6 month old, both have Britax seats. We use a couple of black bath towels under their seats to stop them moving about on the leather and stop them scratching/denting the upholstery. Works really well and does not compromise the safety performance of the seats!
Check out ebay as well for metal door sill protector plates, otherwise little feet will scratch the paintwork
Looking forward to the pictures of your D3 sailing

Should have added, fold the bath towels so they are only slightly larger than the size of the car seat base
I bet the air suspension will love zorbing I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

I brought my little cousins to Tong and they loved it - the mud and the thrills of Daddy's cars going through water and through spooky forests was very exciting. Stay in a hotel and it's a little holiday. Lots of families with kids and dogs come along to DISCO3 (and 4..) events, they're civilised unlike these crazy free-for-alls that the roughians in modded Defenders dash about at 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Welcome to the mad house . . . .
Britax seems to be the way to go, Great fit and the towel is a good idea if you have messy kids. Best to have a little flap over the front edge as my three year old puts his feet on the front edge of the base cushion.
Side steps - mixed reception, good at bending upwards if you go off-road. My kids 12,10 and 3 all just clamber in without them and haven't damaged anything yet
But I wouldn't be without the two emergency seat covers (horse riding, football, canoeing) that I stash in the centre cubby, or the full rubber matts. "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Towels now installed
We did some 'verging' over the weekend That was the closest they have been to off-road to date
If anyone saw us they must have thought we were mad but it was good fun.
Found out there is a LR 4x4 centre at Rockingham Castle which is just down the road from me. Trying to find out if you can take your own vehicle.
