I'd be having a pretty robust conversation with the dealer if they said it wasn't covered under warranty.

Hi all

So after investigating the problem and identifying the fault (which was a detached or broken 90 degree connector at the base of the drain tube, allowing water to run straight into the passenger footwell
) the car went into my local guy salmon for investigation and what was hopefully to be a warranty repair. I had a really poor experience with them; conflicting info and quite rude staff, not to mention the fact they said they had ‘done a test and found the sunroof drain to be blocked’ but hadn’t actually moved the insulating tape that I had applied to the sunroof seal to stop any more water getting in! I challenged them on this and they said they must have made a mistake when reporting back to me. More like couldn’t be bothered to do anything at all and make an assumption. They said it wouldn’t be covered and would cost me around £700 to fix and dry out the carpets properly. Anyway, I’ve escalated this to LR directly and awaiting response. The case handling so far has been ok but they need to go through their motions. I will report back once I know more.

In the meantime I’m driving round with my sunroof taped up which is daft, but at least no more water is getting in!

Sunroof drains eh?.. who knew.

That is just plain ****... I hope Land Rover customer services come up with something better....

I assume they are stating bodywork issues aren’t part of the extended warranty. Not really what you expect from approved used!

Went out to the vehicle this morning and a big puddle on the passenger mat. Luckily not too much on the carpet but it's still damp.

Had quite a heavy downpour last night and this being the Lake District means we're going to have more this week.

So decided to do something about it. First quick fix was to tape up the sunroof to eliminate the drains as the issue.

Next decided to have a look at the passenger side sunroof drain. Bit of a Censored to get the vent off. Decided not to use this blokes method though...

Finally got vent off by using a handy wooden spatula found at the place we are staying. Vent looks clear

Popped down to Lakeland Land Rover and picked up the D3 and D4 A post finisher fixing kits as found on lrcat.com

Probably only needed the D3 kit to be honest. Followed TSB LA-501-006 which involved trimming the lower location peg and placing a seal over the hole that is used for said peg. Also includes replacement trim clips.

The A post trim finisher didn't have a 'washer' type seal as advised in the TSB but a huge wad of foam. Wonder if this was a contributing factor?

Locating peg removed and trimmed flush: -

Location peg hole before.

Seal applied

New trim fasteners fitted.

Will report back succes/failure of fixes so far. Just hoping it isn't the roof weld Big Cry

Thought things were fine for a day or so but we had a downpour last night and when I looked in the vehicle this morning, this is what I found Big Cry

Must be either scuttle panel, driver's side A post or roof weld.

Will fit new fasteners/seal to driver's side this weekend and also investigate the scuttle panel. Time to do some searching for the fix to make a diverter out of a piece of scrap plastic...

Sounds like you definitely have the same problem as me. As far as I’m concerned the water isn’t making it to the rubber tube you photographed inside the side wing grille - the tube has somehow become detached or broken at the elbow connector located somewhere behind the cjb.

My sunroof currently looks like yours - taped up.

Currently waiting for LR to respond following guy salmon’s assumptive diagnosis.

I had his once in another car. Turned out to be a mod of leaves under the bonnet blocking up the ducts by the windscreen.

I have a 65 plate - but i have soaking floors on the drivers side. Is this the same problem?

I am booked into beadles southend LR later this month, before the 3 years runs out, but do assume this to be fixed under warranty... is that a correct assumption???

Well, it was taken into Beadles LR in Southend (massive new premises - very impressive, but fear I'm paying for it through the service costs!)... it turns out it is the drainage tube that has split, but at least that's all covered under warranty. Phew.

Another possible sun roof leak.

I have a water leak even with the roof taped up. The damp is in the roof lining on the driver side in the corner of the A pillar and sun visor. The carpet is bone dry. I cleaned the front and rear drains, water runs away quick enough. After a rain shower the roof lining is wet again. Any advise will greatly appreciated.

I have water in passenger footwell. Fairly sure it is similar issue to the original post on this thread. Mine is a 65 plate D4. Extended warranty have said they won’t cover repair/replacement of drain tubes, seals or anything related to water ingress.

So hope aim to repair drain tube if is the cause.

My question, any tips on removing the panel under the glovebox got access. It has two captive screws just under the glove box but is attached to the panel marked with green x. This in turn is attached to the plastic cover at the green circle. I couldn’t find a way to separate the two.

Any tips would be greatly received.

I have wet passenger footwell now.

I’ve checked a few things and believe the elbow connector may have become disconnected.
Has anyone found this and reconnected it? And if so how did you find it/fix it?
Do I need to take the wheel arch liner off or can I do it from inside the car ?
Thanks
 Gary
