It's all relevant, other people spend money on other things like an HSE, we have a GS, that's all money to use elsewhere  Very,very nice though

Take the car if you go to Mull.
Another interesting one is take the ferry from Mallaig to Knoydart and visit the pub, Google it.
If your kids are into climbing just throw them out the door in the morning, if they can't amuse themselves.  I'm to old to know everything......

Take the road from Fort William to Mallaig, its stunning. Stop off at the beach at Araisaig for a picnic. If you have seen the film Local Hero its where the house was on the beach. Go over to skye for the day and get on the Cullin ridge. such a special place

Thanks, great stuff, I used to climb in Skye when I was a lot younger so would be good to go back. Will start on the itinerary soon when I have got all the ideas in and done research.

You can do a boat trip from Croabh Haven Marina (Fairsain Tours) needs to be booked in advance, but can be a great day out, loads of wildlife to see, but no gadgets! Joined the BMWX5 45e group

went there easter time last year, stopped in a cottage on the edge of Loch Awe.
absolutley loved it. no midges that time of year just plenty of sunshine.
if you like walking there are plenty of walks around, walked 5 hours one day and never saw another person. landscape is vast.
oban is a day out at most, pretty poor shops but nice nevertheless.
if you like gardening there are a few private estates that are open to public you can wander around.
never got round to doing the ferry to mull etc... but looked a good day out. XC90 T8 R Design Pro

I have booked a cottage near Oban, so looking forward to it, thanks for all the tips, wading through web sites, looks fantastic with so much to do
I have a 4mtr Searider RIB that is the tender to the mothership, I have a trailer for it, wondering if it was worth taking it up. I can't dive for another year due to pneumonia but wife and daughter are diving so I will have time to play. The Searider is a very capable RIB with flooding inner hull, have been out with it in reasonably rough weather and it copes, it has a 50hp engine on it.

I suggest the Argyll seaside route from Oban to Tarbert on loch fyne then take the boat to Portavadie and from there to Dunoon the boat over the firth of Clyde and onto Glasgow. holiday houses gold coast

At that time of year I think you'll be totally safe. But just in case I'd pack a bottle of Smidge midge repellant, in my experience far superior to Avon Skin So Soft. It was developed at Edinburgh Uni. Here's a link:

Midges don't start till the 3rd weekend in May.
I am from Oban but have stayed in Fort William for for many years so I am totally biased and cannot advise but pm me if you need any specific info.
