Well, I'm off then.
After 6 yrs of D3 ownership, it's time for me to move on.
I can honestly say that this has been the best car I have ever owned in 35yrs of motoring, and I have mixed emotions about saying goodbye to the old girl. In 6 years I have never been left at the roadside, and other than servicing/ maintenance the only additional costs have been a front wheel bearing and front brake caliper. Not at all bad!
This forum has been a tremendous resource, a comfort and source of constant worry (will it go bang?), but overall a big thumbs up to this community. I haven't posted a great deal because there are many more qualified members here who know what they're talking about.
So, thanks for the memories, and good luck!
Kind regards,
Chris.
P.S. dog guard and mats in the for sale section; not letting the stealers have them (the p/x was with them included sir- bo*****s)CGA

Gone for a Honda Civic; no VEL, 70+ mpg, manufacturers warranty, cheaper insurance, big enough (usually only me in the car), and no worry that something very expensive is about to go Pete tongue on an 11 year old car.
I never needed a 4x4, just wanted one and the time has come to be sensible.CGA

Fair enough
I sometimes have similar jitters but the (cheaper) alternatives don't fill me with enthusiasm...
All the best though.

Good luck with the change, at least the Honda dealers will be much better and you will probably see them far less!
I did the Honda Land Rover change in reverse coming from a 2.2 Accord, I really liked the ictdi engine and on a run could easily achieve 50+ mpg. I briefly looked online at the CRV but see you can no longer have the 2.2 diesel so knocked that idea on the head.Andy

You are of course correct, I will miss it, lots. We will see how long I can keep my sensible head on (the wife gives me 6 months).
Did someone suggest that manufacturers lie about the mpg for their cars (extra urban 85.6mpg ?)CGA
