Hi Martin,
Thank you for having me on the site. I've just bought an 08 plate Disco 3 to use as a workhorse. I have had a 57 plate RR Sport in the past along with an Evoque and E Pace.
I'm getting used to the creaks and squeaks as I've got to respect it is 13 yrs old and 150,000 on the clock.
I am noticing one thing though, at a steady 40-50 mph the rev counter 'blips' up and down between 1500 - 2000 revs and I hear what can only be described as a 'whirring' sound. Not sure if this is normal for an old Disco, or if anyone else has experienced this, but I'm a novice when it comes to cars so I'll probably get the local garage to take a look.
Looking forward to being a member.
Martin

Hi Martin
I’m definitely not an expert having bought my disco 3 last month. But it sounds like you have the same problem I had. Hopefully it’s gonna now.
I took advice I got from this forum.
I have a 58 plate D3 es, I noticed the revs fluctuating at about 1500. Mine has 160000 miles so only slightly more than yours.
First mechanic told me new gearbox and torque converter. My local mechanic told me to go to a transmission specialist and get a mega flush on the gearbox.
I went to ATGL in Gloucester who confirmed it was the torque converter. They ran a mega flush and added shudder stop to the transmission oil when they filled it. They said there was no guarantees that it would stop or for how long but about 1/6 the price of a new one.
So far its running beautifully! It’s my first D3 and love it even more now.
Not the most economical though especially now that fuel prices go up every day.
Hope this helps.

2004 discovery td5 sold

Hi Jim,
Many thanks for the info, I'll look into it.
I agree, not the best on fuel consumption
Cheers,
Martin

Hi everyone,
Few months ago I’ve finally got my first Disco! It’s a ‘08 Disco3 diesel and I’m very happy with it, sure it have some little issue but nothing serious a part from the shuddering caused by the torque converter
I’m very keen on doing myself all the work I can do without super professional equipment and this forum has already been a trove of information for me, thanks to everyone’s contributes.
I’ll see you around guys, I have a long list of chores for my baby so I’m sure I’ll bother most of you with stupid questions for the next few months: be ready!

Welcome to all the new members and owners of the green oval - definitely smiles for miles and no-one ever bought these vehicles for their excellent fuel consumption
There is lots of advice and help on here, the search function is a good place to start.
Lumi, there is no such thing as a stupid question (but I can't guarantee there may not be some stupid answers ) so feel free to post away Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

To introduce myself, I have had a few Land Rovers over the years. 2 door range rover started it all. I have recently sold a 2000 Defender 130 TD5 and picked up a 2007 LR3. I have slowly been addressing issues with help from this forum and express my gratitude to all. HDC Transmission faults abound. It seems to have been great improved by changing brake bulbs and brake switch. Hoping!

Just bought my first Disco 3, not sure I did the right thing, but I'm here now
Have had a D2 in the past but that blew itself up, since then been running Hilux, Ranger, Etc...
Thought I'd try to find some solutions to the issues this has before I completely lose faith and trade it in for something a bit less stressful!
Thanks for allowing me to join, fair warning, I may need some help! [/b]

Hi all
I'm a three-time Range Rover owner whose current RR is a petrol P38 with a tired ZF auto gearbox. I bought a reconditioned R380 gearbox but between the time of buying the gearbox and going to buy the new manual pedal box, the pedal box has been declared fully obselete and no longer available. I have uploaded a picture of the pedal box - the line under the heading on the picture says Range Rover (D3) 1994-2001. I am taking this to mean that it is the same as a D3 manual pedal box, and I'm looking for one.

Hi.
I bought a non runner disco 3. Busy trying to sort out the fuel system. Any advise or help will be appropriated. Just a quick one, fuel is pumping out of the supply and return line from the low pressure pump. Is this right. If not whats the fix. Its a 2.7 tdv6.
Thank you
