GKU wrote:Hi All,
Am new to the forum. Have had my TDV6 XS D3 (2006) for several years now, with no modifications whatsoever (!). Loving her more and more as time goes on. Used her to cart the family round Scotland, Wales and Cornwall.
Now the family is growing, we need to take more stuff with us, which leads me to a roof rack question for you all. I'm wondering if there is a roof rack system that also allows for a box to put on top of the rack, similar to the Thule type boxes that I see all over the place? Am I asking for too much? Or should I give up?
Sorry for the silly question, if it is silly. If the answer is no, is a Prospeed Roof Rack the most appropriate?
Any help and advice gratefully received.
Thanks,
GKU
Welcome to the madhouse ! you can buy adaptors (foot packs) for any Thule bars (provided they are the correct width and this then slots in the T-track on the roof rails(if you have these). If you don't have the roof rails they are a very simple addition and will give lots of flexibility to what you can carry.
From memory I think the fixing kit for the T-track is 3027 with a 753 foot pack.. just plug your car details into the Thule website for options. Otherwise you can get expedition racks which give a lot more space but with an increase in cost... I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Hi, looking for some advice. Has anyone got experience of patten parts for front suspension arms over genuine Land Rover parts, specifically regarding the bush failure. Thinking of using pattern parts this time, but could that be a mistake? Thanks

Check out the selection on Advanced Factors website (and you get a 5% discount using code "AF4LRP" as a forum member)
https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/steering--suspension-12-c.asp
I used Meyle on my D3 and they were great, others use Lemforder or Optimal... some bushes are stiffer than others, there's plenty of information here if you use the search function ! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Hi All
New to this forum and to Discovery 3’s. Just bought my first one 2 days ago. Seems to be ok so far. 2008 SE 7 seats. Looks very tidy. Automatic (I prefer manuals) this is my first automatic Landrover.
I’ve owned a series 1971 2a, 1992 discovery, 1997 discovery, 2004 discovery and a 1985 v8 Range Rover.
It’s been 5 or 6 years now since I’ve owned a Landrover and was missing them.

Welcome
The first thing to check is to see if your oil pump has been changed for the later version the original one has a weakness in the casing where a timing belt tensioner attaches and can fail at any time. Andrew

Hello - New Member - Commercial Disco 4 Owner |
|
Hello all members,
I have often used this excellent forum for technical research related to my past 2 x LR3 (both owned in Dubai) and my current Discovery 4 Commercial Land Rovers, now based in Edinburgh Scotland.
It's amazing the expertise and knowledge across all members / owners.
I hope it is OK, but I wanted to advertise my current Discovery 4 Commercial for sale on this forum as its quite a specialized vehicle, especially as the previous owner was a Land Rover specialist garage and they retro fitted rear seats that match exactly to the front seats. Its still a Commercial vehicle on the Log Book, which helps me as I run my own LTD CO now since getting out of the corporate world in 2018.
Look out for my advert , a White - 2011 - 3.0- TDV6 LR4 Commercial.
Cheers
Mark

Dear aja4x4 and nigethecat,
Thanks for the advice. I'll make the request in the My discovery section of the D3 too.
I'm getting into these modifications....
Thanks

Good morning all!
New user to this forum, recently picked up a lovely 07 Disco 3 XS spec and following a quick week at my local services after two years of it being SORN'd - I'm now out on the road and absolutely loving it, wish I had done this sooner!
Long-time lurker and I have been fascinated by your builds and helpful comments and advice regarding the general modifications to Discos!
Looking to do a bit of tinkering here and there, first things first - getting Apple Carplay into my infotainment system!
Looking forward to making all your acquaintances!
Warm regards!
Ben

New member, thanks for having me! I recently bought an 08 HSE Disco3 and I love it. Wish I’d bought one ten years ago, long distances are a pleasure. As soon as I got it I had all the oils changed and so far all is great but I’m waiting for something to go wrong. Naively I was using it to go the very short distance to the yard and eventually the battery drained too low to ignite the glow plugs so wouldn’t start, I checked the battery condition and was ok but the voltage was at only 25%. A day of charging got it up to 100% so all is working well now. It’s mot is due November and needs the rear suspension bushes changing to pass so not looking forward to that bill as I’m aware it’s a lengthy job. Looking forward to discussion.
