Bought this Disco3 today. Plans are to put a few Disco4 bits on it like lights and grille, and fix the sat nav that can't read discs.

Evening all,
I have just joined the forum. Currently have a Disco TD5 but am looking to make the move over to a cheapish Disco 3. Ive seen a few for sale that are around my budget.
Any buying advice?
Thanks in advance..

Hello all,
Am looking for my first Land Rover - was wanting a defender but not so practical at moment, so might ease myself in with a discovery first. Am on defender.net forum and found it to be really friendly and helpful, so have come to join here too in hope of learning some useful bits about the discovery!
Thanks,
Sam

I’m a member of Discovery Owners Club (Druid) since 2007 with a 1997 Discovery 300tdi auto that I’ve modified (significantly). My passion for designing and improving has been lifelong and I see the Land Rover as a fabulous platform for both transport and enjoyment. As I’ve got older and more infirm I’ve found it increasingly difficult to work on my 300tdi but to keep up with our ventures I’ve bought the D4. It’s a good example being one owner who has looked after it well and it has a few bells and whistles I didn’t expect. Whilst I won’t be doing any mods to this one I may still do some of the maintenance where possible. A good friend of mine at the DOC told me about your group and how friendly and helpful you’ve been, that’s all I ask. If I can be of any help to your members with my years of wisdom and skills it’ll be my pleasure, anything to keep from being bored.
Thank you for having me, I’ll try not to disappoint
Kind regards
Dave

Hello all
My name is phill , I have had a disco 3 for some years now.
Ime a old mechanic and electrition . Not bin over 10 years since I worked as a mechanic so ime out of date with all the new electronics but give me me a set of spaners and a engine block to change or general old school mechanics and ime quite happy.
I have come across a problem and I thort I would ask you lot as a group as I am sure at some point one of your members will have had this issue.
I have a 2006 disco 3 bottom of the range 3L v6 manual 7 seat .
I was just getting my tires changed on the standard alloy wheels and the locking nuts on both front tires have disintegrated
Its almost like they are two parts. The bolts are still in the hubs and the locking nut adaptor code f , has snapped off almost a cover on the end of the bolt. So I am now left with a bolt with a very different shape that resembles.bles a different locking bolt all together.
So my question is , is there another locking nut available that would fit the remaining bolt ?
I will add a pick of what is left.

New Discovery 4 Owner in Cornwall |
|
I've just joined the forum and thought I'd say hello.
This weekend I purchased my first Discovery, a 2010 XS in dark green. I love this car already, although my bank account is in for a shock with all the bits and bobs I'm looking at getting!!
Forums like this are fantastic and I'm looking forward to learning more about my Disco. I don't want to go too crazy with the bolt ons (not yet anyway), but there are a few bits I need to sort out, such as:
Purchase a Loadspace cover
Fit side steps
Find a set of mats
Find a good bootliner
Replace a few bits of trim
Replace seat 6&7's seatbelts (appear to have been used as a dog's chew toy!)
Work out how to play my Spotify downloads through the stereo
Just that little shopping list alone caused me to choke on my coffee, so any tips or guidance on where to source parts at reasonable price will be greatly appreciated.
This car has just become my new obsession and I look forward to learning from the forums. Maybe one day I might be able to contribute something myself. Until then I'm off to remortgage the house to pay for all the toys!!

welcome to the forum
rubber mats for front 2 rows and boot mat can be bought from Travall, I find they are a good fit and quality although not as thick as the land rover rubber ones, however they are more than half the new cost. The genuine ones also occasionally pop up for sale on here along with loads of other bits and bobs like side steps or bars.
IIRC the 2009-2011 models don't have the ability to stream audio via the head unit, you can only connect for voice calls. But you can connect via cable in the armrest lid which should also charge your phone at the same time via the USB port.

Hi Phill47,
If you do a search on here you'll find this is a common problem and most people bin the locking wheel-nuts!
This may help to remove yours:

Limo Tint
Blackvue front & rear dashcam
Cruise control switch pack
