Hi LandyNZer
Sorry to hear about your oil pump but good result on getting the engine replaced
There are a lot of posts on this forum about the oil pump and how the old ones are. There are also various pictures of old and new pumps, maybe this will help in giving you an idea of what a new pump looks like:

Hoping to buy soon
Hi Folks,
Looking to buy a Disco 3 pretty soon. It will be a toy/workhorse/overlander as I have other vehicles under my care for more serious use.
My original plan was to visit Iceland this summer with my fairly well kitted out Suzuki Jimny. It's looking like that wont be happening so I'm planning on kitting out a Disco3 and taking it next year. I'll eventually sell the Jimny I think, but it's just so much fun. Looking at around £5/6k for the base Disco and then mods will trickle down as funds allow! I'm happy to take my time and can do a fair bit of the work myself. (famous last words)
Hoping to use the resources and knowledge on here to help out with finding a good one and then fitting choice mods (not to mention fixing the thing probably!)
All the best.
Matt.

Hi,
Recently bought my second Disco after missing driving my last Disco too much. Looking forward to making a few modifications to it and then hopefully taking it offroad, when we're all finally allowed back out and about!

Hi
Hi, Just saying hello..
Been coming on here for a while.. as doing quite a few fixes to my disco 3. Mostly gone pretty smoothly.. except for the ubiquitous parts being sealed on.

Having had a D3 for 9 years I took a break and ran a classic Range Rover for a year or so but I seem to have drifted back into Discovery ownership.
The Range Rover has departed for a live in Essex - sorry to see it go really but I won't miss managing corrosion, brittle plastics and non-working electric windows!
Now I have a 2014 XS. I had forgotten how great they are to drive!
Xenon headlights need fitting and CCF editing (anyone able to help with this in West Yorkshire?) and a sump guard is on the way. Few other additions to make over the next few months I suspect.

Sadly I found the forums because I have a problem
Driver side window on my 2005 Disco3 won't open... so I'll be trying out the search feature in a minute!

hello
Well finally joined!! Been looking from a far for a while now and finally decided to bite the bullet and sign up. Owned a Land Rover Discovery 2 petrol for about seven years now and now gone and got myself a Discovery 3 petrol. Not as a replacement just always fancied a petrol Discovery 3 and one came up at the right time and right money so thought why not. Still new to me, owned for about 6 months so just getting to know each other really. Anyway, have a few little questions but don't feel day one is the time to start pestering all you good people with my issues. looking forward to pestering you all in future.

Hello all,
After some years and 180,000 miles in a defender 110 doublecab TD5, I've reluctantly given in to pressure and traded for an old D3 - 2006, 110K miles on clock.
Got the belts done and innumerable bits and bobs - 2.5K pounds worth. I'm feeling the pinch already! - need to get Gearbox flush done, will probably need suspension compressor in the foreseeable, the front diff seems to make a slight binding noise.... etc.
So really noticing the difference in complexity and cost.
I also notice a big change in driving style - I have to be careful in this one, whereas the defender with it's all-steel corners and 20 quid door mirrors was a different beast - and I got 31 mpg, hammering across the peak district every day, now I'm gentle as anything on the throttle and only get 27mpg.
But... it makes a good Grandchildren taxi, which was the whole point. The Defender only had "exterior crumple zones" (i.e. fitted to other vehicles) and, if I counted up all the airbags.... zero.
So I'm getting to grips with a whole different set of idiosynchracies (what was the point of that handbrake mechanism?)
First one - I'll find a forum to post on - the non-powerfold door mirros has just dropped off! - well, it's hanging by the adjuster wires, but I can't figure how to put it back together...
So, things I like and things I don't (I never really like auto boxes, but then SWAMBO hated the clutch on the defender).
See how it goes...

New Member - in trouble already!
Afternoon all. I am the proud owner of a 2007 D3 SE which I bought in January. My second Land Rover - I had a Series III back in the noughties when the kids were little.
So it's only five months since buying the beast and it's in the menders with the classic instrument pack death issue. Oh well, I knew what I was letting myself in for!
