Croatia 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

I am coming from Croatia, and I am very active in MG Rover forum community, but now I entered Discovery community as well.

I am so glad that almost anything I can think of I can find mostly here. This is just continuation from MG Rover community for me, and only thing I can say is: excellent!

Hello!

Hi All
Just introducing myself.
I avoided Land Rovers for years after a bad experience with a Disco 1 V8 - to quote Walther Matthau in 'A New Leaf':
Mechanic: "How often do you take her out Sir?"
WM: "Once, maybe twice a week"
Mechanic: "...and how often do you have trouble?"
WM: "Hmmm, I'd say once, maybe twice a week"

Despite this I've bought a D3 for towing the daughters horsebox. With two beasts in there it was driving the little 4x4 we had, not the other way around. Don't have that problem with 2.5 tons of D3 at the front!

I bought it on the theory that you either buy one with a warranty (which means new -er no) or one that has been well looked after with enough miles for the previous owners(s) to have replaced all the parts that Solihull didn't get right in the first place. Time (and my posts on here!) will tell if this theory works out. Despite a thick history folder I think I already need a lower steering shaft.

Thanks in advance to all you gurus, I've already gleaned really useful stuff and hope I can give back as time goes on.

Australia

Hi All

My name is Paolo...I live in downtown Melbourne, Australia and have decided that I want a Disco 3, HSE, one with all the fruit!!

I will set the car up for touring for two adults and two young children.

I would like some advice on the air suspension and it’s suitability for outback touring....namely its reliability.

Does anyone know where I can check a disco 3 vin number to better understand what options, if any, it left the factory with?

Thanks

Paolo

Hi Paulo and good luck with your search for all the "fruit" Thumbs Up

The Wiki link on this site has a lot of information, the VIN details are also there:

https://www.disco4.com/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Number
 Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector
Limo Tint
Blackvue front & rear dashcam
Cruise control switch pack
Bodsy's remote for FBH

Thanks for sending through VIN link.

Is there a way of understanding if a Disco 3 has the last of the updates for the 2009 model?

Paolo

New Toy

Good Morning everyone,

I've been lurking for a while to research the purchase of my first Land Rover which I'm happy to say is now complete. Very pleased but not really had time to go over it with a fine tooth comb. Very happy with the price and all that. Not done more than 500 miles yet but already appreciating it.

LR3 MY05 HSE 2.7 TDv6 7 seater with some off road toys: LR snorkel, rock sliders/stepping paltforms, front baby bull bar with LR lamps, sump guard, and what looks like an air compressor guard too. Evidence of the previous owner removing the rear leadder so I assume a roof rack came off too. No matter as these will soon be replaced.

I've bought the this primarily as a toy and have already found 4x4 without a club (Aldermarston), which is very local to me as well as discovering that Salisbury plain is available. Looking to get some off-road action with our son aged 6 (who is very excited about all of this). It's also a 7 seater so will be occasionally acting as the family coach (highly comfortable with nods of approvals during its maiden voyage on Father's Day).

Lots of questions but this forum has already answered a lot of them including luggage cover locations (very ingenious), power mirrors, rear cup holders (they were really dirty so the car dealer didn't even find those when he cleaned the car). Discovered the body off operation but no height in the home workshop so I don't think that is gonna work.

Sort of handy with the spanner so will likely be changing the cam belt (great walkthrough found on here), it's due as vehicle is now 14 years old. That's the first job really but I also want to get some smaller rims (17" seems to be the smallest I can find) along with that roof and ladder business. Also can hear a few speakers that are blown so considering options.

Need to play with the rear screens as I've no idea how to drive these. I also need to find the Nav DVD and an update. I'd also like to tidy the mess of wires up which appear to drive these rear screens. I can't imagine this is a factory fit as it's such a shoddy job - see pic.

I also have a couple of issues: the reverse cam (intermittent - and quality in bright light), one spotlights doesn't work - should be bulb but... and the rear towbar is not where it should be, suspect missing. Driver's heated seat isn't really heating - not checked the rest, including the rears. I'll do some more research and post proper questions in the appropriate places as and when.

Finally, I use VAGCOM for my Audi vehicles so I'm used to electronic diagnostics (and their limitations - very interesting points again on this forum about this topic) and intend to research the available options and purchase one sooner rather than later - IID looks the favourite so far...

Well any, enough chatter.

See you in the forums...
