Weird electrical issues

Starts fine but after 5 mins or so the dash starts shutting down in the following order;
time and temp display in the instrument panel goes to dashes
radio display goes blank
sat nav screen goes blank
central locking then activates
hazards start flashing and can only be turned off by using the ignition switch
interior lights come on permanently and will only go off by turning off the ignition

If I turn everything off by using the ignition switch, remove the key and restart the whole cycle starts again!!

Haven`t got my IID tool here at present but any pointers as to where to start looking, battery, alternator output??
Any advice gratefully received. Thanks, Steve

central locking an hazards usually point to a CAN BUS error.

These are the twisted yellow wires

You could check under the rear passenger side to ensure wires haven't rubbed on chassis.
Not an easy fault that.

+1 on possible can bus problem. Plenty of information on this site on how to trouble shoot can bus problems.
As these vehicles rely heavily on battery power, check all the battery connections especially the earth one before delving into the can bus.
Can bus resistors are in the ABS unit and behind the instrument cluster

Also a sign that your battery is failing - convenience functions will drop off first followed by total battery failure.

Get you battery checked and changed Smile

All warning lights followed quickly by whole dash from radio to speedo dying while driving was a symptom of my battery and alternator dying last year. Very scary when the whole dash goes dark while doing 70mph! Takes a couple of seconds to realise the engine is still running and you’re not heading for the central res.
