weight issue
Can any of you clever people help me sort out the correct weight of the vehicle?
I've always believed the vehicle was 2700 KG or thereabouts, until I took it in for it's first MOT today and the mechanic opened the bonnet, looked at the metal plate inside and said it was too heavy for his centre (3200 kgs) and therefore needed a different MOT class inspection.
The handbook says 2718kgs and the plate says 3230-6730kgs (?). Pix below.
I thought the 3230kg was the maximum weight allowed, not the standard weight.
Confused.

D3s are a Class IV MOT, the stations are getting this wrong (it applies to commercial 110s and the like over 3000kg gross vehicle weight, but NOT cars).
3230kg is the gross vehicle weight - i.e. maximum loaded weight of the vehicle
6730kg is the gross train weight - i.e. 3230kg GVW plus a maximum of 3500kg (3.5 tonne) trailer with load
As the handbook shows, the kerb weight (i.e. unladen but full tank) for a TDV6 D3 is 2718kg.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
