Weekend Suggestion 4 Hours From Rotterdam |
|
Hi,
Got the opportunity for a weekend without the kids - any nice ideas for places within 4 hours drive from Rotterdam at all please? Thinking maybe Germany but no idea as never been.
Not much of a city type, but pleasant countryside does it for me.

You'd get to the Dutch Alps in about 2 1/2 hrs from Rotterdam - Maastricht and out to Valkenburg is a beautiful part of The Netherlands and the locals are amazingly warm and welcoming. Lived in that neck of the woods for a couple of years (at the turn of the century - that makes me feel old now!) and had a great time. A tour guide in Maastricht told me that the town had enough churches to pray in a different one every week of the year, but enough bars to drink in a different one every day of the year...
