Hi everyone.
With the weather getting colder I think I need to get my head around my Webasto heater in my D3 HSE 56. It seems to come on when it feels like it - I think if the temp is 6 deg or lower?
The question is how do you control/program it to come on before I switch the ignition on?
There doesnt seem to be any control on the heater itself so I assume that there is some remote unit? Whatever it is I dont have one so:
What do I need ?
Where can I get one?
Is it wired or Wireless?
If wirless how do you pair it with the unit?
How does the system work?
Sorry if this has been asked before?
Cheers !

I got my Webasto timer with the connectors etc from
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-WEBASTO-OVAL...5d3170327b
Good service and the extra small parts included. Tell him its for a D3 so you get the correct plugs and connectors in the kit otherwise you will have to source them separately and they tend not to be sold in small numbers by electronic parts suppliers.
Some D3's (2005 ish) already have a red wire connected to Pin 2 of the FBH. If you have it connected it makes the job easier.

Thanks everyrone for the info.
The BAS solution is brilliant but a little too expensive -I cant really justify the £258 - it is a little much.
Shame they dont sell a self build kit? I am an Electronic Engineer in the aircraft Industry so should be no problem to assemble !
Looks like it will be the basic 1553 for me!
Cant wait to have a nice warm engine in the morning!
Thanks

Hi Dave, I have a red wire connected to pin 2. How does it make the job easier? Where does the wire come from? What do I do with it? - Cut and join or splice it with the feed from the timer.

Cut and join it to the output of the 1533 timer. Just make the other end safe, wrap it in tape or something!
It comes from behind the dash IIRC, but doesn't do anything as it's function was deleted. 2014 D4 XS

Hi J@mes, thanks for the quick reply, is it possible to access it behind the dash and make a joint there?
Did you pay full price for your kit or make an offer? - the listing states offers.

They're a nice gimmick the GSM units but I'm not sure they're really practical for most folk.
When are you likely to be a long way from your vehicle yet still want the FBH to fire up?
I've gotta say, I think this is probably more practical and considerably cheaper http://www.opengate4you.co.uk/page7.html but it's horses for courses I suppose.
I'm just putting the finishing touches to my own remote unit and I'll post the piccies when it's fitted, which should be in the next couple of days.
I've got a very nice indicator which will indicate when the FBH has fired up too which I think will cause some interest.
Watch this space.

Yes I for one will watch this space with anticpation particularly the indicator, and the opengate4you remote looks good, what range has it got? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Not too sure on the range of the remote unit just yet M3DPO, but once I'm up and running I'll let you know.
To be honest though, I think my indicator is going to cause such a great deal of interest it'll detract from all the hard work I'm putting into assembling my timer and remote unit. It still needs perfecting though but I'll tell all when I'm happy with it.

Got my FBH working for the first time yesterday, WOOHOO.
In the process of stripping it down, discovered an air lock in the coolant pipes.
The original error was "Overheat sensor interruption, actual and stored, code ABh".
After bleeding the air out, she fired up straight away using Webasto Thermo Test 2.11 on the laptop.
I have got a GSM dialler fitted for the alarm to text me.
Next project, get the FBH connected to it..... Mitsubishi Outlander Phev 4H 2018.
