Webasto heater timer (UPDATED)
I have approached Webasto about their timer kit for the fuel burning heater. I know the standard version only heats the engine and does not switch on the interior fans, but it would be useful for winter to pre-heat the engine. You can run the fans with the ignition on, so you don't need to start the car if you want interior heat.
Normal price is around £130.00, but if we get bigger numbers we can push for discount. The sign up is only to show interest at this point, so I can get an idea of numbers and price.

Am I right in thinking that the timer cant be used by remote or preprogramed to a set time so you still need to go out to the car to turn on the timer .

If it is as I expect, you can pre-program a start time and it will stay on for max 60 minutes. I had the same timer on my Freelander and I used to set it to come on 20 mins before I had to leave for work. It's a shame it doesn't do the interior fans, but the D3 is a lot more complex with the electonic setting of the vents etc.

Didn't Stapldm say recently that he had solved the Webasto remote timer / fan thingy?
I seem to remember a thread where he said he would be posting all the detials for a DIY job

I saw his post, but as soon as the CAN bus comes alive, it stops working so you can't open the door etc while it's in pre-heat. I am waiting for an answer, but the timer should work all the time and have a manual over-ride for instant heat. I am also not sure if the main unit has the 60 minute run time or if it is part of the timer, but apparently it is only meant to run for 60 mins max.
