Firstly, CANbus is active - it sends a keepalive every 15 minutes, secondly, if you want / need that functionality, why not look at adding a remote or GSM switch to the system?

I'd be more than happy with a remote to activate the FBH without the timer, but is that possible? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

No, you need the digitised output from the timer, once you have the timer however, it's possible to activate the FBH by text message 8) *provided you add the other bits!

I think I will look for a remote as this would solve the problem.
If the CANbus is alive what is it sending to the FBH as it doesn't seem to affect the operation. I presume this is a different signal compared to the one it sends when it's awake ?. I still don't understand why it affects the FBH, but then I have no idea how the CANbus works. I thought the CANbus for things like the FBH was like remote switching of a local power source, i.e to cut down having a seperate power source for every item.
How does it work

Do you have a link to the English version, it appears to be written in some strange language

Once you've added a telemetry module there's no reason why you couldn't switch on the screen heating as well

That is excellent, thanks.
I think to remove the CANbus could mess things up. Do you happen to have the pin outs for the FBH just so I know which is which.

Yep, the two connected wires on the FBH are CANBus
BTW, have you considered how the FBH 'knows' whether to fire up or not when the D3 is 'asleep'?
it's those 'silent' CANbus messages
Pins 7 & 4 are CANBus high,& low, pin 5 is the supply to the FBH fuel pump

You are a fountain of knowledge, where do you get all this info. You obviously don't work for Land Rover as you know too much
Will it up the CANbus system if I try removing them

countrywide wrote:Will it up the CANbus system if I try removing them not permanently no, i'd consider using solid state relays though..... TBH i've never measured the effect of disconnecting 'live' CANBus as it would only normally happen in an RTI and at that stage, who cares?

Found a guy in Germany - I sent him 3 x €50 notes (to avoid £20 for a Bank Transfer) and he posted me 3 timers. He has more, he says.
He actually posted them before I posted the cash
Any use/help?
(I'll need to work through this thread to figure out WTF to do with mine - I wasn't going to buy one yet.)

Well I tried without the CANbus connected and it tried to fire up, but then shut down. Connected it back up and it fired no problem, so I guess it uses some signals from the CANbus to run even with the timer.
I am happy to post instructions from LR on fitting the timer.

Countrywide, did you JUST disconnect the canbus wires, or the whole multiplug? One of those other wires in the multiplug drives the fuel pump - no fuel, no burn... Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
