Is it that time of year already?

Hope everybody remembered to service the FBH during the summer months, i.e. with the occasional start every now and then. Whistle

Make sure your fuel warning light was not on, it inhibits the FBH.

And...
On your 2006 vehicle, if the FBH has tried to start on 3 previous occasions while the the low fuel light was on, it stays locked out until reset by Faultmate, IDS, etc.

and...
Vehicle also has to be level. Nosedown has a tight limit, Nose-up doesn't seem to bother it.

and...
Vehicle doors have to remain shut when it's operating in automatic mode (i.e without an external control box fitted).

and...
the bonnet has to be shut

It can take 90 seconds to get to "full afterburner" mode so unless you stop at a junction soon after starting and open the window (to take a deep breath of the fumes), you'll need to start the vehicle stood outside with the windows open to check for operation.

Yep, checked my GSM SIM card in July and gave the FBH another good blast last month.

With the external temperature hovering around 20 deg C, a 30 min burn got the engine almost up to temperature - I suspect it even got warm enough to open the thermostat.

A question that I have pondered for a while is, undoubtably pre-warming the engine is a good idea for wear and tear, but what about the auto-gearbox? It's so tempting to scream off the blocks with a luvly warm engine but the gearbox is potentially still full of treacle (very expensive treacle...). Hmm, discuss.

Is there any way to test the FBH without the faultmate, like tricking it into believing the air temp is colder than it actually is?
