The firms make a good profit and pay for Quentin's endorsement out of people insuring against their insecurities. I accept there are those who claim on a regular basis, if you're not one, then why are you chipping in for someone else's problem car? Especially if youve had the car from new and not much hassle, there's no reason on earth to believe it will screw up in the next 12, 24 or more months. Okay, things happen, but then either put the money into an ISA or have sufficient on the Visa for a repair bill, worse case scenario.
I believe I have a Friday afternoon car, 10 times to the dealers in 9 months, lots replaced, all under dealers 1 year warranty. Would not be without one.

Totally agree Dave, if I'd had the car from new, I would know its history and would know the care I would have lavished upon it. Unfortunately the car had one previous owner, who must have used it to pull 10 ton trucks, and a full service history from the dealers, which I can only presume dealt in drugs and not in car maintenance.

I get your point Dave. I bought my D3 second hand so looked at the J D Power survey for car reliability before deciding on a warranty. Discovery's come 90th out of the 118 cars surveyed so I decided a warranty would manage the risk better.
I wish I could afford to buy a new car and maintain it properly from new ... but i guess I'd still be faced with some design faults (e.g. EPB) Chris
