water and oil temperature
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone can help, i feel that the thermostat is suspect in my disco as my coolant it is not reaching temps above 65degrees C after any length of a drive.
I have live data from my IID tool which shows oil temp typically 20degrees above the coolant temp.....is this correct?
Also i hear there are two thermostats so just wondering which one to start with?

For the cost of the temp sensors (about £20 each from Advanced Factors.), just change both sensors

Buy or borrow an IR gun - they are not expensive. With it you will be able to see if your sensor data is correct and trace around the coolant system to spot any issues.
It's dead easy to do, so go for it.

Ok so finally all sorted. I replaced the thermostat (nightmare) and still no improvement in coolant temp on gauge and iid tool. So I fitted a new coolant temperature sensor and that cured my problem. I noticed the sensor metal body had a crack in it.
