Water ingress
Morning everyone.
I apologise as I know this has been covered numerous times before but struggling a little.
I have a water filled drivers foot well. I've checked the sunroof drains and all appear fine, I've taped the external A pillar to try and rule that out.
My question is before I remove, where does any water that passes behind the windscreen scuttle drain to? I'm wondering whether water is getting in behind and and tracking in. With the amount of water I would have hoped to see some track marks or so some indication of where it could be running in, but nothing. It's clean water so not being driven in from the road.
Thanks everyone, happy Saturday.

Hi
Have u looked at the door opening where the rubber grommet carrying the door wiring loom plse as that grommet can come out and allow water to run down into the cabin
Plse don’t ask me how I know
Have u done the external A pillar modification in blocking off the bottom hole plse as I know that’s another entry point , assume you’ve already got someone to put a water hose on the landy whilst u sit inside the cabin
Hope that helps and u find the solution

Thanks for the reply Stuart.
I will remove the A pillar as with the amount of water in the Wells it is tracking in somewhere. The grommet in the door looks fine. The door weather seal has seen better days but no signs of ingress no damp. Slowly stripping it all out and it's not going back together until I identify the leak.
Thanks again

Hi ) Short term drill a little drain hole CAREFULLY through the floor at the lowest point you can expose, at least the water won't accumulate, nor sit around soaking into this and that and doing horrible things.
3mm dia. hole I'd suggest ?
You can plug it later once the water source is understood & fixed.
Long term effects of wet floorwells is VERY detrimental to these cars !!
Cheers ))

Ur so very welcome and great the door seal is ok
I also removed my scuttle panel as wanted to spray it but at the same time checked all the grommets , including the empty clutch pedal hole , then cleaned behind both A panel area so that the waterproof patch would stick over the bottom holes
Hope u manage to find the leaks , plse let us know how u get on

Hi
Funny enough drilled a hole on my passenger side as the sill was full to the brim with water
After doing the A pillar bottom hole patch it cured any water ingress , took weeks for the carpets and underlay to finally dry out

Hello,
I've just spent three weeks working on this, the rubber elbow had dissolved so I had to go through the pain of removing the central fuse board, after that water still came in so did the external A pillar fix still water so more tests and realised that the drain tube was blocked.
So water filled up the tube and into the surround around the sun roof.
I guess it then over flowed and somehow tracked along the roof lining and down the A or B pillar into that channel with all those cables.

I hope you find the leak ok.

Drivers side sill filed with water
I’ve been looking at this post to see if I can see if it helps me with the problem, I have water coming into the drivers door, it then runs down inside & escapes out below the door bin this dumps the water over the inner body door seal & it just runs over & fills the channel. I have spent nearly 2 years trying to sort this, I have stripped door card & ran a hose over the outside with no water coming in, I sealed the wiring grommet from the door mirror & it’s still coming in somewhere, I also sealed the clip holes at the bottom of door card & this did not stop it either.
When it rains hard there is water between the inner & outer door seals at the bottom, it is not coming in higher up the front of the door. Could this much water get in past the window rubber at the bottom of the window? It seems to be in contact all the way along the glass but this is the route I’m thinking.
Anyone with any ideas as to where the hell it’s coming in would be much appreciated.
Tom

Hello,
I had a Freelander 2 and the water was coming in the hole which was in the roof for the roof rails. In my FL2 there was no plug and the external trim (which normally sealed it) had come loose. So the rain was going into the empty bolt hole and then down inside the car, could you have anything similar to that?
I have heard others having an issue with the slam panel leaking under the windscreen wipers.
The other think I had was the drain from the sunroof was blocked and over-following into the roof lining and down. Have you checked the sunroof's front and rear drain holes on the drivers side? Obviously ignore if you don't have a sun roof.
If you have an air line try blowing it upwards to see you can can hear anything or use flour along the top and any air escaping will blow the flour which you should be able to see.
If no airline perhaps a strong torch inside the door card and wait until dark or take it inside if you have a garage and see if you can see a light.
Sorry if you have already thought of all this.
Good luck

PS There is also the A pillar water ingress repair, which was a Land Rover Technical Bulletin LA-501-006.
If you Google (other Search engines are available!) "Land Rover Technical Bulletin LA-501-006" the details come up and shows you how to repair it. Most LR parts shops sell a kit for it and it is cheap.

Water
Thanks for suggestions, my water isn’t coming in from either the A post or sunroof, first thing I did when it first happened was to seal the outside of sunroof with insulating tape & it still came in, I’ve done the a post fix before & as I said it’s coming in from inside door, I will add some pictures tomorrow to show where it actually is.
Thanks
Tom

I had water ingress into my house, and the roof slates above seemed OK.
My experienced builder found the water source - a cracked slate some two metres further along the roof. After trickling through the crack, the rain was being blown sideways along the roof felt before dripping downwards.
The builder knew at once what to look for - the house is on a hillside facing the ocean and regular strong onshore winds.
So, if your car water ingress is worse during/after a drive through rain then perhaps look for wind-driven water trickling front-to-rear rather than downwards ?
Cheers, wish you success !!
