"Water in Fuel" - Which cover is the Fuel Filter u |
|
I have the above error message on my dash...have done a bit of research, so going to drain the fuel filter off.
However, just crawled under the car, to access the fuel filter to drain the "water" off, which is (I hope) under the drivers seat, but I don't know which cover to take off.
I took one cover off (which is held on by 2 or 3 10mm bolts), but to no avail.
The next cover, looks to me like the fuel tank? and is held by 2 x 13mm bolts directly under the drivers seat and possibly others else where.
Is this the cover (It goes from chassis cross member to rear wheel)? Or is this the fuel tank? As I don't fancy that landing on my head while I am under there...never mind trying to lift it back into place!
Cheers,

the fuel filter is effectively under the drivers footwell just behind the front offside wheel.
I think its the gearbox cover you need to remove Duncan

Ok, got it...
Thanks DiscoDunc again.
Next question...is the water meant to pour out of the drain plug? If so, why isn't this happening to mine? It's bone dry with just the smell of diesel.
Am I meant to purge it or something to flush it through?
Cheers,

There is also a chance that the connections on top of the fuel filter have corroded making the warning come on.
