1st thing I'd do would be to change the fuel filter?

I suggest you drain some fuel through the valve at the bottom of the fuel filter until only clean pure diesel comes out.

Then fit an new OEM fuel filter.

If this doesn't solve the problem you probably have a faulty fuel sensor.

I had similar problem along with the screen wash sensor not working when I bought the car. Fitted a new float to the screen wash bottle and it cured the water in the fuel on the dash. 🤣🤣🤣 Landrover wiring.

I have had the same problem since January. Intermittent, may go for days with no warning then appears every time the car is started for days.
Drained the sedimenter and got around half a litre of fuel into a clean glass jar which I left to stand overnight. No traces of water, debris etc. whatsoever.
The filter was replaced last September when I did a complete fluid service (Engine, Brake fluid, Autobox (Flush & filter), transfer box & diffs. The fuel filter has seen approx. 6000 miles since replacement.
I'm not losing any sleep over the message as I know it's spurious but I will replace the filter just to isolate whether it's the filter or the sensor. No way will I pay £80 odd quid for a new sensor.
The car is running fine and has never thrown up the problem in the past.
Definately drain the sedimenter for your own peace of mind, if you find water, obviously replace the filter as posted.

I had this on mine. It's a fairly common problem. Replacing the fuel filter housing sorted it.
