Water in battery tray and foot well loom, many error codes |
|
I purchased a 2005 TDV6 SE yesterday, sold as a non runner due to flat battery and not charging.
Battery voltage was 1.5V, I put a new battery on and it started fine. Whilst the battery was out i noticed water in the tray to a height of the bottom of the transfer case control module, I removed the water.
After a few minutes running nothing was working, I turned it off, connected my icarsoft code reader and cleared all the codes. Everything started working after that. goes up and down, goes into rock crawl, high low range working, stereo started working and other things.
Central locking not working on the fob so I thought I could tackle a nice easy job of the splice in the loom, I found the splice, cut, soldered and sealed. The fob locks the car now which made me quite happy. The loom was saturated in water, seems like it is coming through the loom that dissapears through where all the standing water was under the transfer case control module and ECU. Many splices in there with electrical tape, the loom still had the factory black tape holding it together so i do not think anyone has been at those splices, but who knows.
I removed the transfer case control module, the terminals were slightly corroded, I cleaned them up nicely and opened the module to check inside, all clean, no corrosion, no burnt out components or anything that looked like trouble, nice clean and new inside. The connectors looked ok but i used contact cleaner and put the connectors back.
After clearing the codes again and starting I get ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT on the screen and a bong
error codes from the icarsoft that keep returning
P140A exhast gas recirculation sensor C - circuit low
P1936 clutch switch/sensor signal
P132B Turbo/Supercharger boost control A performance
B1C57 passive start ignition coil circuit
U0403 invalid data received from transfer case control module
U0102 Lost communication with transfer case control module
Whilst on tick over smoke started coming from both exhaust pipes, it increased until i was sat in a cloud of diesel smoke, I turned it off, did hard reset and it didnt come back, the same error codes keep coming back though.
The vehicle seems nice, tidy, paperwork shows glow plugs just been done, new calipers, discs pads, new handbrake module, new alternator all at a cost of about £4000. There were other things on there too that I do not remember, belts & tensioner done 50k ago
Seems a shame to break it
Can anyone help with these electrical gremlins? should I do every splice I can find? I have no money to go anywhere to get it fixed by someone else who will charge me and not fix it. My beloved HSE caught on fire and i had to watch it burn out a while back, no insurance pay out and the Rover 45 I am currently driving makes me feel sick to look at it. I really got to get this thing working, read many many posts here, My account here will not let me login, contacted site for support but no reply so I just made a new account as I am desperate for some good knowledge and advice.
Thanks for any help that may be given
