No, you are right John, but most warranty issues are bearings, EGR valves, EPB and I can do all of those myself. Not sure what's involved in the Injectors and I know if it was Turbo it'd be pricey, but most other stuff I'll be cheaper than warranty.
It's like any insurance, it's only worth it when it's used (and they've not got weasel words to squirm out of it.......)Bodsys Brake Bible

Stating the beeeding obvious but these companies are only as good as they honour the agreement and pay out where there is a valid claim. On here (over time) there is enough experience to build up a picture of how they behave away from the glossy web site and flashy adverbs on TV & papers. Key thing is peeps to give their experiences, good and bad, so peeps can learn from the experiences of others.
I don't agree with the piggy bank option for me as DIY stands for "Destroy it Yourself" and have "used" the warranty instead of me getting the socket set dirty. Flip side is my folks had a year of Tesco (I sooooooooooo miss them) and half year with WD and not a single niggle or claim. Pays yer money and takes yer chance!

Did you not take the wear and tear option on the policy ?
I had my two done due to heistation and fault code coming up on reader.

If it is just wear and tear then every other car on here with 100K miles or more (i'm actually at about 89K) should have had a full set, how many people actually have had any at all replaced? 4 out of the 6 are leaking past the end seals, wear & tear, I don't think so.

But did you select the option on the policy as that will make it even easier to fight it.

unfortunately no, but even then I don't believe they would pay as the diagnostic only shows a lower efficiency on 2 and not all 6, although when you actually get a human to look at them you can see the leaks and you know it is not running right. Trouble is, too much confidence is put into machines and fault codes these days, and not enough on what a human thinks.
This is an extract from the policy, am I supposed to let leave it until something worse happens when the failure is sudden and unexpected? But then they say you need to take it straight to a garage to get it looked at, so still not a total failure, either way they ain't paying anything. My injectors have failed in two different ways, so surely not all wear and tear.
Failure: The sudden and unexpected failure of a Part
resulting in a permanent loss of the Part's ability to
operate.
Failure due to Wear and Tear: The premature Failure
of a Part due to Wear and Tear resulting in a permanent
loss of the Part’s ability to operate. (Whether a Part has
suffered a Failure due to Wear and Tear is determined by
comparing the extent of wear on the failed Part with
other associated or similar Parts, if no such wear is
apparent then this would be deemed a Failure due to
Wear and Tear).Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I had a warranty last year which luckily did not use (cost £560) but this year have gone without for the sole reason of not wanting the stress of having to deal with warranty companies who will try to wriggle out of most claims. Just do not want to spend hours on the phone when it goes wrong.
I see both sides of the "warranty or no warranty"arguement and just hope my car behaves itself.........

I was one that though WW were going to be good, but looking at all the rules and regs that they have in the reams of print, no matter what boxes I had or hadn't ticked then there is no way they were paying out, so on top of the £3200 bill there is also the £1000 i have already paid them, they win on all accounts.Joined the BMWX5 45e group
