Warranty work - a couple of questions |
|
My D3 (2800 miles) went in today for its enhancement and a warranty repair.
I had the steering knock problem and this has (allegedly) been cured by replacement of the universal joint at the base of the column. This apparently replaces a worn plastic bush in the bit of the column that folds in an impact. I have yet to drive it. Is this the 'normal' cause of the knock described on the site or is a different one that I should be more concerned about?
During the enhancement I was told of all the goodies that were 'sorted' out, including the suspension. I said I hoped it cornered a bit better and they said it may but not as well as an HSE would. They said this is because the HSE has something similar to the ACE system on the D2 whereas the SE and below 'just' have the standard air suspension. Is this true?? If it is I will be a little vexed because I did like the way the D2 cornered. 2008.5 D3 HSE, Stornoway, Ebony

I've not heard of the differing suspension systems on the HSE and the Base/S/SE.
The "Dynamic Response" option pack on the Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE has the active anti roll bars similar to the D2 ACE system though

That dude is on crack, all of the Air suspension LR's have the same spec suspension and steering gear. no difference between SE and HSE.

Your dealer doesn't appear to know the difference between an RRS and a D3 The End

Well, I noticed a difference in the handling between my HSE and a friends SE. I've always been surprised that this was down to the 1" diference in the wheels alone. I assumed that as my HSE was a year newer, they may of been some suspension tweaks since.
However, I doubt if there is any other differences between an SE and HSE - apart from the size of the wheels. Matt

There is no difference, although the upgrade seems to have made my parents' SE stiffer/tighter, I haven't had it done yet on my HSE DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
DS3 TDV6 HSE- Silver with Alpaca (new one) Gone
D4 HSE Lux - Montalcino Red Gone

I can now answer part of my own question:
My D3 now has much stiffer suspension and handles better.
Thanks for the RRS/D3 differences Martin - makes sense. Just a shame I can't get the dealer to make sense. 2008.5 D3 HSE, Stornoway, Ebony
