Warranty Direct Renewal, £191 Saved

I offered WD to redeem themselves today on the £200 they 'owed me' before I declined their renewal, and 5 mins later they'd slashed £191 off the renewal price, so let's see if their "Engineers" Rolling Eyes can behave themselves this year and stop telling porkies, and that I'll start to see some value from the warranty, especially as I think my suspension bushes will need doing this year.

£559 renewal for 12 months ExtraCare, D4 on 67.5k miles, <24k miles PA, £50 excess, £200/hr labour rate, 80% payment on parts.

My original renewal was £750 - the same as my first year, so even if it's not gone up it's still worth phoning up.

I would point out too that this apparently doesn't cover 'off roading' - I queried this and I declared that the vehicle would be used on tracks/camping/etc... apparently this was okay.

See if they can turn around my opinion of them this year.

I was given the option of reducing to cover £75/hr max, which would cover my local independent garage (just) but if the car had to go to a gearbox specialist, or main dealer etc, it wouldn't cover it. So the slight policy reduction wasn't worth it.

I didn't claim anything off them last year which I assume is why it didn't go up. Well, to be technically correct, I did claim from them, but they were rather underhand in getting out of it which resulted in a long battle involving the ombudsman. Maybe the renewals chap saw "Page 1 of 27" on the account notes and that's why the renewal price came down sharpish! Laughing

You did well although not sure the gearbox specialist thing sounds right think I would go 100 percent parts no betterment myself
I understand warranties are likely to come down if you had a major claim due to the likelihood of another major claim in the following year I believe there is another thread in here or two that prop that theory up .
Either way you got a good deal Smile
