Warranty Direct Claim - Steering and Suspension

Hi,

I've just had the front lower suspension arms, track rods, track rod ends and rear track arms replaced on my D3.
When I spoke to WD they offered to cover the track rods, track rod ends and rear track arms, but not the front lower suspension arms, as suspension is not included on my warranty, but steering is.

When the vehicle went in for repairs WD agreed to cover the track rods, track rod ends, but not the rear track arms, as they now claim that they are part of the suspension and not the steering.
Logged it as a complaint with WD and awaiting their response.

Anyone with similar experience with WD out there?

Many thanks

JC

I expect there are a fair number who've experienced similar.

I'd agree that they aren't part of the steering system as such, but, if they agreed to cover them, and then only declined it once the work was done, you certainly have a fair point to argue from.

Do you have it in writing from them? Question

Good luck with it. Thumbs Up

Hi again,

My understanding these track control arms are part of the steering and required for the steering geometry of the vehicle, and should be included under steering in the warranty.

From Moog website -
http://www.moogproducts.com/en-global/Susp...-arms.aspx

“Track control make steering solid and sturdy by stabilising the wheel. They reduce vibration and uncontrolled movement whilst driving”

Moog are the manufacturer of the track control arms fitted to my vehicle.

Thanks
JC

The front end steering components are clearly steering, but at the rear, though it does affect the tracking of the vehicle, I can see that they could class it as suspension, since in is not affected/controlled by the driver.

As mentioned elsewhere on here, I am currently progressing a dispute through to the Financial Ombudsman regarding Warranty Direct. Depending on outcome, I'd be happy to share experiences offline with you, if it helps.

Thanks
