I have just got off the phone with WD and am now not so sure whether I want to take out the warranty or whether I should look somewhere else.

I have a 55 plate D3S with 109k miles on it. WD have said that they will do me a SecureCare policy, which is one step up from the lowest cover, for £735 for 1 year or £1396 for 2 years.

For this they will include wear and tear after 90 days, airbags and emissions systems cover (which according to rep covers my EGR’s), happy with my indie to work up to £60 per hour. However they suspension is not covered and they will not budge on the 50% betterment clause because of mileage on car.

They have said that my mileage is too high for the extra care policy as the starting mileage needs to be below 95k. I was also given the whole “this is only for today and if you call back tomorrow we don’t have to give you this deal”

Am I being unrealistic in wanting the suspension covered and wanting to have the betterment reduced/removed? I am fearing that my suspension might need doing in the next 12 months hence the concern around it.

Any pearls of wisdom or recommendations would be greatly appreciated or anywhere else I might look? Have heard the AA do something where you can claim up to 500/700 3 or 4 times a year?

If you get the EGR statement in writing, that they won't reject the claim because its got a bit of carbon build up (it does live in the exhaust so can't be avoided) then that's a bonus. Mine were rejected because of carbon buildup.

Suspension bushes were not covered when mine were changed, wheel bearing was covered.

I was about £200 out of pocket over the year for taking out the policy.
