I have a spare ignition lock and blade that you are welcome to try. Although I have no switch which is most likely the issue. Easy enough to check just take the steering column cover off and the black switch just unclips from the bottom of the lock. Wear will be easy to identify.

I think as long as you don't change the immobiliser ring the lock and switch should be a straight swap.

I bought a complete switch and lock set including passenger lock from Gentlemen of Salvage, £45 from memory, couldn't fault them.

Keys are programmed into the BCM

A replacement barrel and key will also require a paired BCM, BCM and IPC at a minimum

I just changed the barrel, blade and switch with no issues.

Used original fob and immobiliser ring which I assumed were the elements that needed pairing to the car?

Am I wrong?

And thanks desv8 for the offer, I will wipe the cover off and have a look first as you suggest just in case its a loose connection as killing the engine just by put some pressure sideways on the key isnt something i have come across before.

I can only go from my experience. My problem was that the car was sensing the key in the ignition after locking and after a while setting off the alarm, usually at about 0300hrs. When i unlocked the car the display would say key in ignition (Without key in ignition). I bought a complete key and ignition lock set. Replaced the barrel and switch which resolved the issue. No pairing, just swapped out.

sounds to me that you have a similar issue, general wear rather than electrical. Maybe wear in barrel or switch??

As long as you are not changing the fob or immobiliser ring I can't see an issue, although again only from my experience.

Good luck with your investigations. Thumbs Up
