[Wanted] D3 TDV6 HSE with excellent history wanted
Hey all
On the lookout for a D3 HSE for my brother and his family who are after a safe and trusty 4x4 for their growing family. Age and mileage less important than mechanical condition and service / maintenance history. Looking for one with a great history of annual servicing and fastidious maintenance as they’ve had some bad experiences with reliability on other (non LR!) lately. Budget of around £10k.

Hate to be a cynic but from personal experience lots of spend on maintenance is no guarantee of a happy ending.

Absolutely - eyes wide open! Anything could happen but would prefer one that’s been well looked after if we have the choice.2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Wiggle room to push to a D4? OK the 3.0 likes to snap a crank but the 2.7 likes to spin bearings, both resulting in same outcome. No scientific basis for this but thought D4 otherwise was more reliable than the D3. Might need trading down from HSE level, but that would give no sunroof, a positive bonus.

At that price point you should find a nice low mileage D3. Look on Autotrader now with min - max 9k - 11k there are a few nice examples. At least you should know what questions to ask! (Oil pump done etc.)

I would go for a D4 for that budget. I miss my D3 but it was far more high maintenance than the D4 which has been no trouble at all. Only needed routine maintenance in 2 years, go for a higher mileage example that will have had the suspension replaced.

Thanks all!
£10k is maximum, for the right car, would like to spend a few k less and keep a bit in a kitty for repairs. Would prefer a really good D3 with high spec in good condition than a lower spec D4 but in no urgent rush so will keep an eye out.
As an aside, amazing how few there are kicking about these days. We have no geographical limits on the search as I travel nationally but interesting to find there’s not a single D3 HSE for sale in Scotland!2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

I sold my D3 HSE for £4000 a couple of years ago! There was very little wrong with it, only sold because Gareth was selling his D4 so knew the history was genuine.
Hope you find what you are looking for 👍
