Just make sure no dirt has dropped in the surround and is trapped between the screen and surround, as this stops the screen from working, you might have to remove it to check

Is there anything else I could try before forking out on a new screen? I checked again yesterday there was nothing stuck inside the surround, which there wasn’t. The two physical buttons work fine, it’s just the actual touch screen.
