[Wanted] 4 to 6 berth caravan
Hey guys, having had a few great camping holidays this year, I am considering an upgrade to our trusty old caravan. Now that we a have used it a bit, we have found that the mid bunk layout doesn't suit us as a family.
We are not sure exactly what we want yet apart from wanting end beds; we are going to have a good look around but I have seen some cracking vans sell on here recently.
So if anyone within reasonable distance from Essex is thinking of selling up. drop us message with what you have got.
Cheers

We're not quite ready to sell it, but our 2013 Coachman Pastiche 525/4 might be for sale in the not to distant future.
Check out google for the layout and tell me if it suits.

I'm in much the same boat as the above, in fact we are off to look at some caravans for some layout options today...
We are looking at a different layout as the the kids are now teen-agers and not too happy in the bunks - which is a shame, won't be long before they don't want to come along at all.

Thanks for posting guys.
Mr B, yours looks like a really hi spec'd van but looking at the layout linked. I get the perception that that fixed bed and huge bathroom compromise a lot on the daytime living space?
Morgan, your layout looks pretty much spot on, the review says that there may be a few compromises on spec although I can't work them out! Does it have plenty of storage? Would love to come and have a look at yours, but distance apart could be an issue!
Kind regards

Hiya,
The 525/4 doesn't have a fixed bed.
Two fixed bunks is all.
The very best thing about the layout is the enormous kitchen space. Lots of worktop etc. And the sofas are very big: in fact the made-up bed is very spacious.

No worries, thank for the comments Mikey...
It took us a while to find this layout/options, nearest I will be to you is in October of to Birmingham NEC for the caravan show with it.
It's not up for sale until we can find/agree on a replacement, motorhome is currently under debate as well as island/fixed bed options...
Good luck with finding something closer

Right different thought
We have been through what you are going through and brought a 6 birth to give kids the space for them and mates to come along and hey ho they then wanted to sleep in tents or awning pods and not in the caravan with the parents
So now we have a nice large 4 birth which at a push can get us and kids in if weather very very bad but 99% of the time they are outside
This works really well as we have a large fixed bed and they get what they want
Just one more though go to NEC in October for the caravan show and look at layoutsMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone

Mikey,
We have a coachman 580/5. Great family layout. Fixed bunks with an end corner bathroom.
Its also got a side dinette which converts to make a 5th bed if required.
Not planning on selling but it's a good family layout.
Ps How did you get on with the roof bars?? Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

Dammit Dan! You have beaten me to getting back in touch with you! Very well thank you, took the caravan back to storage Saturday, just about finished emptying the Disco. I'll pull them off along with the roof box this week and get them back to you a mutually convenient time. Although we probably could have got away without having the roof box (and it is not the largest!) it was great for chucking loose stuff in that would have normally been rolling around the car. The more we use the caravan, the more I refine the packing and I'm learning the usefulness of crating! Mind you a different van with more storage may well alleviate that. If you have the van at home, I'd appreciate a quick peek when I come over Not such a Disco Newbie now!

This is great discussion chaps, and very informative. Thanks for taking time to post.
Russell, your comments are absolutely spot on. Although at 4 and 7 the kids are perhaps a little too you for an awning extension, I too have thought that to be a great way forwards in the not too distant future. The biggest key for us is the end bunks. I was just thinking bigger van to get more living/storage space.
Mr Brain, I'm loving the van in your second link, from the point of looks, space and layout it would be ideal, albeit maybe it blows the budget out of the water completely!
Batfink, I'll look up the spec on your cousin's one. I'm actually going to Lakeside later this morning! Not such a Disco Newbie now!
