W-Bus technical
Hello,
I'm wondering what exactly the w-bus is. I know its from Webasto but couldn't find a technical desscription on how it works.
My FBH is connected to the Danhag w-bus device and works very well. However i also have the Webasto Oval Timer 1533 lying around. How can i hook this the FBH Danhag combi? Just adding an extra wire to pin 2 of the FBH? Is this what the Y-Cable does?

W-Bus is similar to RS232 but works at 5Volt levels and is at 2400baud
Finding out what the commands are is a different question.........

converter w bus out (yellow) to pin 2 of heater.
Oval timer +12v out(pin 2 black) to converter input control (orange) should do it.
usually oval timer pin 1 (wbus) to pin 2 of heater is used but this requires that car is shutdown cant open doors etc.
converter removes these restrictions.
I used the webasto T91 remote out into the converter. worked fine until T91 gave up the ghost. was v expensive, so replaced with danhag gsm unit (original converter now redundant.
I have just ordered the danhag ipcu unit to control the blowers. dont know how to wire it yet, hope instructions are good. There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

interesting so it can prevent shutting FBH down by the car when you unlock the car, open the door etc. Does it still keep the functionality in place when the car is regulating (the power of the FBH during the engine running depending on the temps etc?)2013 D4 TDV6 S; Baltic Blue; IID Tool BT

Thanks for the replies to my question.
@Bellauto's: I'm using a 'new' Danhag v7.0 device with build in w-bus support. So this GSM device connects directly to the FBH on pin 2.
Is it possible to connect pin 1 from the oval timer directly to pin 2 of the FBH. This means that both devices are connected in parrallel to the FBH. I don't know if the w-bus specifications allows this?
On my danhag device there is no 12V input to activate the w-bus (only an alarm

i don't know how it does it, but if i've told the converter to heat for 60 minutes, then start engine, go on short trip to shops, stop engine/lock car/do shopping, with engine temp less than normal, then the heater carries on working until engine is up to normal temp. After the converter time is up the car controls the heater as usual via the can bus.
After all that, i think a simple "YES" would have sufficed There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

I've just got my danhag gsm unit, I wonder how have you wired yours? Just red +12V, brown - ground, yellow - pin 2 of webasto, or have you also connected orange cable to ignition switched +12V ?

I've just installed a GSM start with the T-91 remote. since I didn't know if connect the yellow W-bus to the relay cable harness or purple wire that is not wbus I went for the yellow one. Now the Callstart works and starts the blower but not the FBH. Should it not be connected to Wbus?Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE -05

yes I now have the GSM unit installed and orange is connected to ignition so that when the ignition is on the GSM shuts the heater down to allow can bus operation only. Also the GSM goes now to the converter which controls the heater. I did this because I bought the cheap GSM unit (not the PRO) and the converter can use a TTV specific data protocol (not wbus) and having much more control over the heater, fuel pump etc.
Also in my original config, the ignition was not being used, so the converter was never shutting down until the configured time. There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

So the Danhag GSM pro version is the best choice for TTV in Disco3? It has the converter integrated, right?
I want ONE box that controls everything and not influenced by doors open or not(sleep/awake), but at the same time doesn't override the CAN BUS signalLand Rover - It Hurts So Good

Where did you connect to the ignition?
