United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Java BlackDiscovery 3

Hi All

I received my black Belkin kit from Amazon today, as described in the replies here, and it has fixed the problem perfectly, even using my oldest chunky ipod. Thanks very much for the solution - great stuff!
cheers

I don't know if this is just on my very old (4G) ipod but what I've found is:

The headphone socket on an ipod gives a "mic" level output which is ideal for headphones but very quiet and not intended for connection to anything else. However, the dock connector can also give a "line level" output which is ideal for connecting to other audio devices. Basically, if you connect to the AUX socket correctly using line level then the ipod volume control should not have any effect in the D3. All volume levels should switch to the normal volume control. I've noticed that it's quiet difficult to make sure you are actually buying a dock connector which gives true "line level" output, but once you find one you'll wonder why they bother to sell anything else.

These Belkin kit feature the correct ipod connection and an adjustable volume amp on the charger. The Ipod volume has no control over the volume when connected.

The output on the top of the charger is for the 3.5mm stereo jack that goes to the Aux port.
