Hi Rob, 4G or 4B&S won’t fit the Anderson plug’s terminals without trimming quite a few strands of copper, whereas if you run 6B&S from the auxiliary battery to the Anderson plug, you can then use the anderson plug as the cable junction.
Strip about 18 mm of insulation off the two 6B&S cables and then get some 6mm auto twin cable and strip 18 mm of insulation of both of these cables and twist the red 6B&S and red 6mm together and fit them into the terminal, there’s just enough room to do it.
Do the same with the black cables and then just run the 6mm auto twin to where you want to mount the power socket.

Hi All. Would like to know if the rear 12v sockets can handle a 30ltr Engle fridge. I believe the fuse is rated ok, but when u see the wire size (I was worried), u just think its not larger enough to carry the current.

Hi Boofrmb, the cable is thick enough to handle the current but at any current greater than about 2 amps and you end up with a fair sort of voltage drop.
This will mean the fridge will have to work harder and usually cause the fridge’s low voltage cut-out to trip soon than it needs to.

PCH - how did you terminate the power cables in the rear? Just put lighter or other sockets on the end of "floating" cables?
BTW - I did the saem thing for my UHF radio - aerial is now mounted on post on wheel carrier, and I just run the line under the back seats folded down, under the mats in the 2nd row, and beside the transmissin tunnel to the Uniden 3200... voila!
cheers

and another question...
Has anyone checked if the wires are run, active, on the unused second trailer power plug at the rear? Have often that must be a source of power to the rear, but have not checked...

Thanks Catweasel - where is his post about what/how he does this?

cheers,

Simon,
I actually terminated the free ends at the battery. I bought an Engel portable battery charger for the Waeco Deep Cycle battery and a Waeco RAP's 12V distribution box that I connect the fridge into. So the free ends are on the car battery side.

I have always used the 12S plug to run both a 12 volt compressor fridge in the caravan and also my Engle, also carried in the caravan. The caravan is equiped with a 220 AH battery (2 six volts in series) and a couple of 65watt solar panels just to help out. The Western Towing site is quite informative and their mail out is quick, 6 days from ordering to delivery in country WA. http://www.western-towing.co.uk/acatalog/7pin_12S_Wiring.html not sure how to post the address as a link..
