visiting the scotish highlands in march
as title thinking of flying into Edinburgh hiring a car and touring around the highlands for the scenery for a week as a slightly belated birthday treat mid march. looking for a list of the must dos while im there and some decent hotel recommendations
hotel wise something with good food and a country manor style feel would be ideal MY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

My work colleague had to go to Inverness for the day and on his way back did a tour and vistited plenty of whisky distilleries which is pretty cool if you like your alcohol.

hire yourself a d4 from 4 x 4 hire in Glasgow...get out west...flat on the other side...if you haven't been before every corner turned will be a new experience,,oban.fort William ..malaig...applecross more than enough to keep you busy for a week..

If the weathers fine and you go out and about I'd also take some Avon Skin So Soft to ward off the little beasties.

If you have time go over to the Cullins on Skye such an amazing place.
In the main just enjoy Scotland it's an amazing place

If you go over to Skye, this hotel does good food and is in spectacular scenery. Have never stayed, but stop off every year for a meal and to stretch our legs on our way to Uig for the ferry to Harris.

It'll be a couple of months early for Avon SSS...besides, Smidge is much, much better when the need arises.

must say on my trips up to Scotland with work. and covered most of it, usually at light speed my favourite trip was over to Oban lovely scenery and the roads nice to drive on.
also went over to glenshee as well that was nice.
I don't think it matters where you go though once you are off the motorways all of Scotland is lovely

This has made me think forward to May this year. We are taking the tintent and dogs to the northern tip of Scotland (from Sussex) and spending three weeks working our way back down the west coast.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

If you are dragging your tin tent up to the top of Scotland just remember it's a long way. Did it myself as far as fort William a few years at and that was far enough. The CC site at Blair Drummond is a good stop over and close enough back to main roads.

Thanks Sean. The distance is why we are going for three weeks, to make it less arduous on me and the D3.
