Victim of Thor
So I have had a HAMMER thrown at my car and its dented both upper and lower tailgate.
I cannot post the video at the minute, as its a matter for the police and courts, but it confirms my view that UK drivers are getting worse.
I literally did nothing to this guy except flash my lights at him for changing lanes and causing me to brake, he then signalled left and went straight on - it wasn't a big deal - he got a flash of the lights and I used a hand to point to three different lanes on the road... I have it all on video, both front and rear cams and clearly I did NOTHING, no swearing or anything - he followed me for miles and at a roundabout threw a hammer out of the window and sped off in another direction. The potential issues of throwing a hammer at another car on busy roads beggars belief....
So now I need repairs to a bright orange disco... and with work/funds as they are this is not going to happen soon. Hopefully they will get him and he'll have to pay, but I am not hopeful. An insurance claim is out of the question as I have four vehicles insured and the knock-on costs would be too high.
2020 is proving to be a very difficult year!

That’s not good.
I’ve had a few incidents over the years, now I just pull back, ignore them and let the have an accident elsewhere.
Hope it all works out OK for you.Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

Sorry to hear this. I can’t be 100% certain, but isn’t it the case that having had an ‘incident’ you will have to report it to your insurers anyway? Come renewal time, or if you went elsewhere you’d have to confirm or answer the question about whether you have had any accidents or claims in the last 3 years.
I had to claim recently for vandalism on my car in my drive. Direct Line advised this would not affect my no claims bonus, and at renewal time the cost was just £10 more ( this appears to be a standard increase rather than a loading to my policy). They didn’t even list it as a claim on my renewal document.
I know once you report it there’s no going back, but wondering if it’s worth reading all your small print, to see what the situation is.
Good luck with getting it sorted.
CheersGary

I will be surprised if they do anything TBH, did you go back and retrieve the hammer ??
Have the Police examined the vehicle ?
Recently I was cut up on a round about, a boy racer in a fiesta thought he would take the exit in front of me from the far right lane at the last minute, i saw the clown coming and braked hard, he missed me just, but managed to smack the central reservation on the roundabout exit, fiesta went up on 2 wheels and was followed by 2 "bangs" of his tyres blowing..... i had a smile on my face all of that day.....

Really sorry to hear this, but it's just so common now
Only yesterday, driving in Swansea, a guy pulled out from behind a parked van. Only room for one vehicle and i was already committed. I braked hard to miss him, and all i did was roll my eyes.
His window was open, he was sooooo angry, shouting swearing, hooting his horn (don't forget it was his error). Admittedly i was a bit slow in moving and had a smile on my face, he then drove forward, F'n all the time, then hit my car with his fist as he drove past
Why? I simply don't understand it????
No damage to the disco, i was calm all along and Harry my boy laughed all the way back to the camp site.
I'd imagine he was stressed for the rest of the day though.Iggy/Ieuan

Also wished to add @ Mr brain what everyone else has said, hope ur able to get it sorted without too much hassle
Indeed beggers belief, good to hear though ur ok as indeed could have been a lot worse
Also the same as I’ve got older I just can’t be bothered
@janson, brilliant
Saw a driver once go over the car parks ramps that raised and lowered because they was in a fit of rage over the parking cost , the guy wouldn’t lower the ramp until he paid, was brilliant as well watching him rip his own rear view mirror off, his missus got out the car and walked off , I couldn’t stop laughing

Very common but not new.
Many years ago I was on the motorway from Brighton about a mile from the M25, Mk 1 Escort passes me (11:00 pm) we are the only cars on the road. As he blinded me with his high beam I flashed him once.
Car slows to my speed (70mph) and the passenger climbs in to the rear seat and turns on a 2-3,000 lumen spot light and points it at my face.Series 1 V8

my consultant is expecting excrement/air-circulatory involvement to start soon .. and has advised me I should keep on shielding "until probably next March"
Quicker to make a list of those not on the list I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

So a call from my local Force today...
They are coming round on Monday to take details, statements, videos etc. They will pursue a charge of Criminal Damage.
