Bonatti color coded bumper anyone?
On my NYC D3 65mph on highway in cruise control I can get a steady 21-23mpg. Now I know this is not fully accurate, so I usually substract 3 to the 23 so I am getting about 20mpg. If I drive under or over 65 the mpg goes down.
On my girls Cali D3, at 75mpg in cruise control we get up to 25-26 on highway so I subtract 4 from the 26 and we get about 23mpg. When I first notice this I though it was a fluke I had never seen mine hit 26mpg for long driving times. But I checked it many times to same mpg results. I am thinking it must be the temperature in California. Next time in Cali I will photograph this. Its crazy how her D3 has such high mpg numbers. Now if we drive it under 75 it drops to 20's and teens.
These are same trucks different locations different quality petrol. Her has 74,800 miles on it. Mine 103K miles. We always fill her D3 at Costco with 91.

We have one car that we fill up every 2 to 3 months. Current mileage is around 8400miles with 196mpg average (wife forgot to plug it in a few times)
From my point of view I'm impressed with the V8.
Would be curious to see what's faster. Having a sport bike background and a GSA in the garage, I have to say the V8 puts a smile across my face; something our X5 (248hp) never did.

Very true, my veiw entierly.
I once told a guy at a petrol station that I thought his 55 Chevy was sweet, he replied "it does 18 to the gallon".
PS
I got my speed equivalent comment wrong.
My Clio 60mph at 3000rpm the D3 is 105mph at 3000rpm!!Series 1 V8

Only for monitoring engine health and claiming expenses for some meetings.
And as for them not being any faster than a log burning D3, I have put mine up against a remapped diesel. Friend has one and a stretch of old runway, so play time, hand held timing but at 8.9secs mine is 0.4secs faster 0-60. Mine is slightly modded in that it has no cats but then neither does his.==================================

Did some more mpg testing. Drove to the Pocono Mountains a skiing area in Pensilvania to my brothers house for Christmas celebration. Its about 106 miles from NYC all up hill, using cruise control speed btw 65-70mph it cost about $13.25 (@$2.65 for 93 a gallon that's 5 gallons) I was getting a bit more than 21.?mpg. The way back my lady drove not using cruise control btw 55-65mph due to icy roads it cost $16.75 thats $30. for 212 miles RT, not bad.
