Used Land Rover extended warranty shake up !

According to this weeks Auto Express, LR are changing their extended warranty back-up on used vehicles from 5 years \ 60,000 miles to 7 years \ 100,000 miles.

This should offer some confidence to those purchasing used D3's ...might even raise residuals slightly?

Yes, I read this too.
It could help residuals but the whole 4x4 market is taking a bit of a nose dive at the moment due to Gordon Brown and the 'gas gussler' press. I've been speaking to many car traders over the last two weeks and many have commented on the slow down in demand for 4x4s and prices are dropping.

It's all a load of b***ocks, as the new tax hike this year only applies to new and 1 year old cars, but this hasn't been reported much by the press. Also, another £100 this year and another £100 next year is only 3 tanks of fuel!

All of this suggests to me that I might be handing mine back and walking away at the 3 year mark... Big Cry

I'm trying to not take any notice of second hand D3 prices Neutral

But hey, so what, lets make hay while the sun shines eh?

Wonder what price they'll quote me if I get the 5years cover up to 100k which is about right I think for what I'll cover in 5 years. Then I can hand it to SWMBO who will cover about 6k/year......

Wonder if all the manufacturers will do it based perhaps on this:-

Seven-year all-over warranty for Cee'd
05 April 2007

• Kia extends seven-year warranty to whole car
• Previously only powertrain had seven-year cover
• New warranty applies retrospectively

Kia has extended the seven-year warranty on its Cee'd small family car to cover the whole car.

Previously, the Cee'd had a five-year warranty, but with an extra two years' cover on the engine and gearbox.

Existing owners aren't left out, though - the increase in cover applies retrospectively to any Cee'd bought from launch.

Kia is the only manufacturer in Europe to offer a seven-year warranty. Kia also recently announced a five-year warranty for its Carens MPV.

I saw one somewhere in Europe that really looked quite nice and softly blingy. Did get me thinking.... But then I have a reputation to tarnish........
